I am completing my secona term on the UP City COuncil and am seeking reelection as an incumbent for a third, two year

term. The two Councils on which I have served, have, together with a talented and dedicated City Staff, achieved many
accomplishments which continue to make University Park a great place to live. These accomplishments include:

Modification of the Snider Plaza PO Ordinance which put in place new development codes, new parking requirements,
valet parking controls, and traffic modifications. Improved parking enforcement using state-of-the-art technology
continues making progress. The Snider Plaza/Hillcrest Strategic Plan Committee, which I chaired, won an award from the
American Planning Association for its work on these issues.

Continued cooperation with SMU resulting in the sale of Potomac Park, the sale of various streets and alleyways on the
east side of the campus to SMU, and the almost finished approval process to put in place the Bush Presidential Center.

Establishment of a strong Ethics and Conflict of Interest Policy for all elected City Officials, all citizens serving on
appointed and advisory boards, and for all city staff and employees.

Easier and more effective ways for citizens of UP to communicate with, and receive information from, various city
departments; which include the Arbor publication, the 3-1-1 24 hour telephone system, Code Red Alerts, and
Emergency Warning Systems.

Continued close cooperation with the Highland Park ISO. Creation of the Youth Advisory Commission, comprised of
Highland Park High School students, to provide input into city government and to assist at various city sponsored events.
Continued support of School Resource Officers, resurfacing of the Germany Park track, replacement of sidewalks at
elementary schools, and improved water service at elementary schools to provide adequate fire protection.

Dramatic improvement of many City Parks, including a total renovation of Coffee Park to add a playground for children
of all abilities; a complete rebuild of the City's swimming pool and water feature area at Curtis Park, as well as adding
new diving boards and water slide; and a new children's park which is soon to come at the south end of Germany Park.

The City's Police and Fire Departments continue to be well trained, well equipped and extremely responsive to the City's
needs.

The City Council and City Staff continue to seek a suitable location for a new UP Public Ubrary.

The City's financial condition remains strong and in good condition, and the City continues to operate on a debt-free
basis. It is true that the City's revenues are down due to lower sales taxes, lower building permit fees, and reduced
interest earnings on city investments. The Finance Department monitors the City's budget, fund balances, investments,
and tax revenues closely and keeps council well informed. Sales taxes and building permit revenue is trending upward,
and upcoming large development projects will result in significant fees to the City. Finances will be closely examined by
the Finance Dept, the Finance Advisory Committee, and the City Council as the 2011 City Budget is prepared later this
year.

I am disappointed that a solution to redevelopment of the Chase Bank site at Hillcrest and Daniel has not been achieved.
My position is that the development contain no more than 136,000 square feet, as the current council recently
indicated. Some candidates for UP city council appear to be in support of the developer's request for a massive building
on this site. Their reasoning that more and larger commercial development in our city will bring in more taxes and
therefore be good for the city is erroneous. If other candidates are in support of the developer's requests, their positions
should be made known prior to the election. Properly sized developments are what our city needs and desires.
