ne city at RIDGELAND police department Media Release For Immediate Distribution Date of Release: March 29, 2016 Monday, March 28, 2016, approximately 3:00 pm, Ridgeland Police Department responded to Belk Department Store located at 1200 E. County Line Road (Northpark Mall) on a reported shoplifting where the suspects were in custody. Upon the officer's arrival, two subjects were being detained by Belk Loss Prevention for shoplifting. The evidence was presented to the officers and the two subjects were taken into custody. They were identified as Sheri Comfort Nutt (WIF, 49 yoa, from Morton, MS) and Amanda Vance Miles (WIF, 36 yoa, from Forest, MS). Both subjects were transported to the Ridgeland Police Department facing shoplifting charges. Upon arrival at Ridgeland Police Department, it was discovered Nutt had concealed on her person a small quantity of controlled substance (believed to be hydrocodone — pending crime lab test results). During the shoplifting investigation, it was learned Nutt and Miles had recently been identified as suspects in a similar case from Flowood, MS earlier in the day and Flowood investigators obtained arrest warrants for these same subjects. A detailed inventory of stolen items by Belk loss prevention indicated Miles concealed an assortment of jewelry valued at $208,00, Nutt concealed an assortment of jewelry valued at $1,960.00. Additional items which were alledged to have been stolen from a Flowood store were recovered from a vehicle ‘owned by Miles. Sheri Comfort Nutt was charged with Felony Shoplifting, Possession of Controlled Substance and a hold was placed on her for Flowood Police Department. Nutt had bond set in the amount of $7500.00 and she posted bond on Monday, March 28th and was released to the custody of Flowood Police Department ‘Amanda Vance Miles was charged with Misdemeanor Shoplifting and a hold was placed on her for Flowood Police Department.
