The team that will win the Google Lunar Xprize must land a
private rover on the moon and it must travel at least 500 meters.
The rover must also send videos and images of the moon back to
the Earth. The teams must show evidence that ninety percent of
the funds came from private sources and they will have until the
end of 2016 to announce an approved launch contract in order
for them to remain in the competition. They will have until the
end of 2017 to finish their mission. The first team that will be able
to do the requirements will be awarded $20 million and the
second team $5 million.
2. In 1960, the USA and the Soviet Union was involved in a space
race and this rivalry was to show each other their power and
capabilities over the other. The adventure to space was fueled by
pride for their own country. Today, the reason for going back to
the moon is the mining of Helium-3 which is renowned to be a
source of fuel.
3. Excavating materials from the moon would be sustainable and
feasible motive because we can get many resources in there that
can help us develop our technology here on Earth. Materials, like
Helium-3, can be a new source of fuel that we can use. There is
also water that can sustain plants and provide oxygen. Metals in
the moon could also be used to build facilities there for mining to
be uncomplicated.
4. Prometheus is a Titan in Greek mythology who gave the humans
fire from the Mount Olympus. Zeus, however, was opposed to the
idea that mankind must have the gift of fire so he punished
Prometheus by tying him to a rock while and eagle feeds to his
organs. Even if he was punished, he believed that what he has
done is great. Jason Ross used the story to exemplify discovery
not allowing anyone to hinder them from making something out
of the knowledge that they gained. Fusion Power is the new
generation fuel that is very valuable to us and we must not limit
ourselves to our technology right now but we must expand our
knowledge for the better future.

5. Jason Ross mentioned that the new form of fire was the charcoal.
It was created by igniting and burning wood and depriving it of
air, removing all other components of the wood causing it to burn
longer and at a higher temperature. Nuclear power was not
developed because of its negative impressions on people, mostly
environmental reasons. People are hesitant on using Nuclear
Power so coal is still used by the majority.

6. Nuclear Fission is the splitting of the nucleus of an atom splits

into smaller parts. The process produces a very large amount of
energy and it produces neutrons and gamma photons. Nuclear
Fission is used in Nuclear power plants nowadays. On the
contrary, Nuclear Fusion is combining two or more atomic nuclei
collide to form a larger atom. This process releases energy that is
four times greater than nuclear fission. Nuclear Fusion is naturally
occurring in stars. Helium-3 is the new kind of fire because when
it is used in nuclear fusion, it is a more effective power source.
7. Helium-3 is worth going to the moon because it can be used as a
new source of fuel which is abundant in the moon than here on
earth. Nowadays, our planets renewable resources are
diminishing and we must find a way to have a new source of fuel
in order for us to continue to develop our technology that is why
it is safe to say that Helium-3 is worth going to the moon. Ouyang
Zihuan, the father of the Chinese Lunar Program, mentioned that
the supply of Helium-3 are only around 15 tons here on earth,
while the moon has 5 million tons of it, and the estimated
demand of the Helium-3 for nuclear fusion amounts to 100 tons
per year. Helium-3 economy can change our lives by giving us
more supply for fuel that could help us develop our community.
8. Moores law as discussed by Dr. Kaku, said that computer power
doubles every 18 months which makes the 2020 or the near
future predictable. By then, chips would cost a penny and millions
of it would be scattered around the world. Computers and robots
will be anywhere and nowhere. There will also be a great

improvement in artificial intelligence, types of jobs, and in our

community. The new society will be called the Post Silicon Era.

9. Dr. Michio Kaku explained that the internet was a task given by
the US government for physicists to provide communication
during the nuclear war. It was said to be the key to success. After
they won the war against USSR, the physicists who created the
internet gave it away to the public for free. He also said the
internet mirrored prosperity because through the internet,
commerce, finance, technology, communication, businesses and
etc. were easier and simpler. Every question that we ask the
internet has an answer.
10. In Economics, the demand and the supply is very important

because without those there would be no economics. In the

article The World in 2030, it is stated that as years pass by,
people started wanting more. They demanded more advanced
computers, advanced medicines, new jobs, and higher
technology. In order to fulfill these demands and wants, people
begin to search for new resources that can be utilized to
manufacture these higher technology. When the demands of the
people are satisfied, it is only for a short period of time.
Eventually they will demand for more once again and the
inventors will supply for them once again.
