New Methods to Create Motion Tweens in Flash CS5\CS6 by R.

1. Start Flash and create a new movie, select Action Script version 3.0.
2. Draw a circle with a solid colour fill in the top left of the stage.
3. Select the first keyframe in the Layer 1 using the Selection tool (black arrow
head), right click on the keyframe and from the drop down menu select Create
motion tween. A popup will appear saying The Selected item cannot be
tweened. You must first convert this to a symbol inm order to tween. Do you want
to convert and tween? Click OK and it will convert the object to a symbol and add
a solid blue tween that extends to frame 24.
4. With the playhead at frame 24, select the circle with the Select tool and drag it to
a new position on the right side of the screen, You will see a green line with dots
appear behind it. Press ENTER to view the circle animation across the screen.

5. To make the animation faster you can click on the last keyframe and drag it to
the left, or to slow down the animation drag the last keyframe to the right. Click
on the ENTER key to view the animation.
6. To create a curved path, select the green line with the Select tool, (black arrow)
and drag it down. Click ENTER to view the new path.

7. Another way to modify the path is to move the ball to the center of the green line
path and drag the ball down or to a new location and the path will follow it and it
will create a new keyframe

Move the object to the center and drag it down to modify the path.

Make the Circle Go around the stage


1. Create a new movie Action script 3.0 (Motion Tweens will also work with AS
2.0 movies, but some of the preset motions discussed later will only work with
AS3.0).
2. As above, create a circle in the top left corner of the stage. Select the first
keyframe, right click and select Create Motion Tween. Click OK when the pop
up message appears.
3. Drag the last frame of the blue bar in the time line to to frame 80. Then move
the playhead in the time line to frame 20 and move the circle to the top right
side of the screen. A new keyframe will be created in the timeline.
4. Move the playhead to frame 40 and then drag the circle to the bottom right
corner of the stage. You will see a new keyframe created in the time line.

5. Move the playhead to frame 60, then drag the circle to the bottom left side of
the stage and you will see another rkeyframe created.
6. Move the playhead to frame 80, and drag the circle to the beginning point in
the animation at the top left side of the stage. Press ENTER and watch the
circle move around the stage.

To move a keyframe in the time line, use the select tool, click and drag it.

Using Motion Presets


Motion presets include preprogrammed methods to animate your objects
they include slide in, blur effects, bounce effects etc. All you have to do is
create a simple animation from point A to B, then select a specific motion
present and click Apply. Note that some motion presets will not work with
Action script 2.0.
1. Create a new movie in Flash, select action script 3.0.
2. In the top left corner draw a circle.
3. Select the first keyframe in the timeline and right click and from the
pop down menu select > Create Motion Tween from the top.

4. With the playhead at the end of the animation tween (blue bar), drag
the circle to the right side of the screen using the select tool.
5. Select Window > Motion presets to see the motion presets box, you
should see two folders Default Presets and Custom Presets.

6. Click on the folders in the Motion presets to view the different motion
presets inside. When you select a specific motion preset you will see
a demo animation in the top window. To apply the motion preset click
Apply and view it on the stage by selecting ENTER or Control>Test
Movie.

When you select the fly in blur left you will see the circle fly in from the left
in a blurr and then get sharp. You can modify the animation path and
create additional keyframes as above. Using Presets and the Create
Motion Tween can speed up the animation process.
