lntroduction
lntroduction
The DEBEG9216 incorporatesa battery charger, which is optimizedfor automatic
trickle chargingand a switchboardfor the connectionof all AC and DC consumers
of a ship's radio station. To fulfil the correspondingIMO regulationsthe DEBEG
9216 has an integratedswitch-overfacility to supply DC consumerseitherfrom the
internalchargingunit in conjunctionwith the reservebattery or via the connected
power supply DEBEG9207. ln the event of a failure of the ship's main and
emergency generator, all DC consumers will be automatically or manually
(dependingof the mode switch 53) switched over to the reserve radio battery
which must have a capacityfor at leastone hour').
ln additionthe unit incorporatesan automaticswitch-overfacility which ensures
that AC consumers(e.g. SATCOM-A stations)are suppliedfrom the battery by an
externalDC/AC converterin case of mainsfailure.
The DEBEG9216 is designedto chargelead batteriesas a standard.lf DIP switch

Each consumeris safeguardedby its associatedcircuit breakermounted on the
front panel. The current value of each circuit breakers is sufficient for the
recommendedequipmentof a GMDSSship station.
The DEBEG9207 is a DC power supply for 24 V / 90 A consistsof two circuit

Installation
The 19" slide-inunit 1271.252 936) is designedfor installationsinto 19" racks
similarto the completerack-mountedversion(271.252 941) of the DEBEG9216.
A rack of 1 t heightunits (489 mm) is necessaryfor the slide-inunit and the two
terminalblocksto ensurea sufficientventilationfor the heatingdischarge.Taking
the bendingradiusof the used cable into considerationthe depth of the rack should
be more than 480 mm.
With regard to the dependenceupon cable length and voltage drop a sufficient
diameter respectivelycross-sectionshould be used for the cablingto keep the
voltagedrop on the linesbelow 2.5 o/o.

TechnicalDescription
(Refer:Annex A, B, C)
The mainsvoltageis suppliedto transformerTRl and choke DR1 through the mains
ON/OFFswitch 51, the fuses F1 and F2. DR1 and TR1 are equippedeach with an
additionaltap.
The DC voltagegeneratedby the diodesV1 to V4 is fed directly to the battery, to
DC Load 1 (hand lamp socket and emergencylight) and to the operationmode
switch 53. The DC Loads2 to I are suppliedeitherfrom the battery or from the
externalpower supply DEBEG9207 dependingon the positionof switch 53.
The amperemeterin the battery-lineindicatesthe relevantchargingor discharging
current. The respectivebattery voltage is indicatedby the voltmeter which is
connected to the fuses F19 and F20 of the battery-lines.Dependingon the
momentary battery capacity during the Battery Full Chargeoperationthe voltage at
these terminalsmay be up to 31 V.
