Yamaha oroans are built with

the top
models are suitable for beginners. Many people, however, will be
introduced to creative leisure by an
organ from our delightful range of
smaller instruments. These are built
to the standards that have given
Yamaha a world-wide name for
unbeatable quality and reliability, and
have electronic components identical
to those developed for Yamaha
'super-organs' costing many
thousands of pounds. The exquisite
Yamaha sound is a prominent feature
and as well as great listening they are
designed to be a joy to play bringing out your innate musical
talents naturally and entertainingly.
The sound capabilities of the

different models vary according to

price, but each is very definitely 'an
orchestra at your fingertips'. They
give a wide range of instrumental
sounds, and have the versatility to
suit men and women at any stage of
proficiency from absolute beginners
to players with a ful! understanding of
technique, arrangement, and
composition. Moreover, they are
designed to help you to attain a
higher and higher standard so that
you can begin to exploit the amazing
creative scope offered by Yamaha
technology. lf you're a beginner,
you'll probably be playing along with
your organ's automatic
accompaniment section and picking
out your first tunes in well under an
hour. After that, Yamaha takes over,
and the built-in 'teacher features'
combine with the pleasure of making
your own music to give you guaranteed
progress in one of the world's most
rewarding leisure pursuits.

Versatility and Simplicity The Voices and the Fun Blocks

Yamaha have concealed the
sound potential of an entire orchestra
behind the handsome facade of vour
instrument. The modern Yamaha
organ featuring computer-age PASS
(Pulse Analogue Synthesis System)
electronics delivers a range of realistic
instrument sounds that would have
astounded the home organist of a
few years ago - at a price that
would have delighted him. Use the

B.35N

different voices to provide exciting

solo passages for, say, flute or
clarinet, or blend the voices to build
up the dramatic sound of an
orchestra in full swing with strings,
woodwind, brass, and percussion
playing together. Each tone lever is
infinitely variable so that you can
regulate the prominence of the voice
you want to introduce, and has three

clickstops within the range of

adjustment for positive, easilyremembered settings.
For remarkably authentic 'nonorchestral' voices such as guitar,
piano, or the exciting vibraphone,
use the Special Preset push-buttons.
The manv tone levers can be blended
for creating the sounds of less
common instrumehts - the
bagpipes, for instance - or to
construct unique sounds of yourown.
Yamaha have perfected voicing

both for solo and for massed

instruments, but equally important we
have perfected an easy-play backing
system which takes the effort out of
learning the organ without inhibiting
your progress. The ABC Fun Blocks
are designed to adapt the organ to
the proficiency of the player - plus
giving some effects that even the
professionals can exploit. The Single
Finger Chord Fun Block gives you a
full Bass/Percussion/Chord back-up
- putting even the beginner in
control of a polished rhythm trio.
Using foot-pedals, you can get a
seventh. minor. or minor seventh
variation on the chord. The B-75N also
offers the unique Multi-Bass Fun Block
whichallows the bass actually to
perform its own variations at preset
intervals - just like a practised human
bassist! ldeal for the student, the Fun
Blocks are part of the joy of playing
Yamaha and are featured on everv

of Yamaha value-for-money - you
won't buy an expensive organ and
find it lacks certain features that
would be available on a cheaper one.

A distinguishing feature of
Yamaha organs from the C-35N and
the C-55N upwards is the rich,
rounded vibrato produced by a
rotating speaker. This gives an
interesting contrast with the more
incisive electronic vibrato effect.

The C-35N and the C-55N offer a

substantial increase in range over the
'B' series organs. From the strident
brass sounds and the swell of massed
strings, to exciting solo effects and

qualities the amazing Symphonic
Chorus effect is provided, multiplying
the voices and adding animation to
your music. In particular, it offers a
breath-takingly atmospheric orchestral
sound - a notable feature of all the
more advanced Yamahas. The
Symphonic Chorus is produced using
split phasing, and the Discrete Sound
Separation facility also enables the
Chorus or Tremolo effect of the
rotary speaker channel to be
separated from the main channel. You
can therefore have two distinct
sections playing together or, for
example, superimpose a silvery flute
on a massive orchestral backing.
When using electronic vibrato it
is possible to add to the effect by
employing 'Delay Vibrato', which lets
the note sound for a while before the
vibrato is introduced. This is the most
usual way for a concert soloist to use
vibrato.
For precise articulation of your
sound, Upper Attack or Upper Slow
Attack enables the note either to be
extra forceful (Attack) or gentle and
langorous (Slow Attack). Sustain on
the Upper Keyboard and Pedals is
standard, and the Glide facility'bends'
the notes you play, producing
astonishingly accurate imitations of
slide trombone or Haiwaiian Guitar.

On the accompaniment side,

there is a full Fun Block section, and
the Auto-Rhythm features exciting
'break' variations which are an exciting
complement to your playing. AutoArpeggio, available on all Yamahas
from the B-35N upwards, will not only
produce a beautiful rippling backing
when you hold down a chord, but will

D-Series, however, the Super Spinet
has emerged. Built around the

D-65 and the D-85 have the
sophistication and features of full-size
console organs. Combined with the
careful design and the wealth of
easy-play and automatic features that
have made Yamaha home organs the
most popular in the world.

The D-65 and the D-85 are

relatively new from Yamaha, but they
have already attracted considerable
praise for the ultra life-like quality of
their sound. Whether you're aiming
at a polished orchestral performance,
a wild gypsy sound,

a cool

of Rock 'N' Roll, you can capture the
effect you're after on a D-Series
organ. And the degree of personal
control over the voices invites and
encourages you to develop a style all

exceptionally realistic, and the presets

provide many players with all the
rhythm settings they require.

D-65

With the D-Series organs,

however, the creative player can
programme his own rhythms. The
built-in rhythm Sequence
Proqrammer has a memory capacity
of up to 128 bars - in effect you
'compose' an entire percussion part
in advance, ready to be played back
as you perform the piece. This way
you can achieve the complex
percussion effect of a symphony
orchestra, or build up rhythm

Like all Yamahas, the D-65 and
the D-85 also play an active part in
developing your technique and
expanding your musical ideas,
offering a unique partnership between

your playing right up to virtuoso

an entertainer that can be played by
all the family. Indeed, in an
instrument with controls as
comprehensive as this, we consider
ease of playing is doubly important.

important.

with refinements such as a facility for
combining different presets, or

As well as sounding bdautiful,

Yamaha organisation
encompasses a vast diversity of
sections linked by a single purpose to enrich and expand leisure interests
world-wide. To anyone who has
seen the Yamaha name on products
from tennis racquets to sailing boats,
from concert grands to motorbikes, it
is apparent that the organisation has
done much to fulfil this purpose.
What may not be so generally known
is that the Yamaha enterprise began
in 1887 with the international success
of a single product - and that
product was an organ.

When Torakusu Yamaha

established his companV's reputation
with the 19th-century reed organ that
began it all, he did so by imaginative
design and careful craftsmanship. To
these essentials the makers of today's
organs can add nearly a century of
hard-earned experience and knowhow, plus some of the most
advanced technical facilities in the
world.
Organs have always been central

to Yamaha's range, but the organ

section exploits the diversity of the
modern company to the utmost. The
result of this is that just about
everything that goes into a Yamaha
organ is Yamaha made - backed by
Yamaha expertise and Yamaha
quality control.
Yamaha are established makers

of concert instruments, so musical

standards are of the highest. Yamaha
have made a name for quality Hi-Fi,
so sound is spot-on. Yamaha pioneer
in plastics, metallurgy, and precision
wood-working - and the organs
reflect the fact. With every stage of
manufacture controlled by the one
organisation, quality control is
rigorous and total. Yamaha work hard
and thoroughly for the reputation as
builders of the most reliable and
sophisticated organs irr the world,
and everyone in the company is
proud of it.

All assembly and testing of

Yamaha organs takes place in
purpose-built factories in Japan,
where there are also extensive
Research and Development facilities.

These factories are the centre of a

world-wide distribution network with
subsidiaries and associated

companies in a large number of

countries. In the UK organ
distribution is handled solely by
Kemble (Organ Sales) Ltd, a division
of Kemble pianos. When Kemble

took on the distribution of Yamaha

organs in 1969 they were no newcomers to the music industrv
themselves - a Kemble piano is still
a prized instrument in many homes.
Founded in 1918, Kemble had a lot in
common with Yamaha when the two
joined forces
- both were musical
instrument manufacturers of integrity
and standing, and both were used to
setting the standards in their field
rather than following them.

Kemble are the second largest

piano producers in Europe, and
together the two companies run an
operation that matches the calibre
and scale of the products they jointly
market. Special attention is paid to
the back-up for the organs, not only
in terms of service but in the sense
that the musical education system
that Yamaha pioneered the world
over is widely available in the UK.
Yamaha are in every sense involved
in leisure. From massive promotions
such as international festivals to the
personal touch which, through
specially selected Yamaha Gold Star
Dealers, is available to every Yamaha
organ buyer. That's why the name of
Yamaha is becoming synonymous
with spare-time creativitv.
