CAREER INTEREST INVENTORY

Self-Directed Search (SDS) tool was built by John L. Holland. This measurement tool
contains 192 items that have only 'Yes' or 'No' answers in order to gauge interest in a
career or personality type. Although the SDS has 192 compared to the VPI which
have 160 items, SDS only contains 6 subscales which are Realistic (R), Investigative
(I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E), and Conventional (C ). This explains that
the size of the VPI is more extensive compared to the SDS.
SDS Test Administration
Although the time to take a test is not set, as a guide, this test must be completed
within 20-30 minutes. Preferably the test administered in a comfortable room,
complete with basic amenities such as chairs and tables, besides, all the instructions
provided in the question sheets need to be followed and adhered to, by the
candidates who took the test.
Scoring of SDS test
The scoring should be done with very careful and very details.
