Simple Life Ordering and Inventory System

Introduction
Technological advancements have brought about great differences in the life of
every individual. Businesses, particularly, also relish in the benefit of this change. Most
commonly, new businesses start operating in just a simple but rough way. They are
using manual or manpower system where all their records and transactions are written
in their respective log books. Businesses that involve recording of inventory system or
sales have this difficulty of recording all of the transactions using a manual process,
thus, our group has formulated a plan on making a computer system for easy recording
of all their records and transactions.
The Simple Life Caf Shop, our chosen manual-processed business, located at
Lipa City has started operating since October 2014. They have been recording all their
sales, inventories and transactions in their log book. In order to lessen the suffer they
have been experiencing since then, it is better for the coffee shop to use the database
system that our group is planning to introduce, the inventory database system, which
records the decreasing and increasing of the quantity of items or inventory and sales.
With this system, it is a lot easier for the clerk or cashier to check the details that
they need for review especially for regular checking of sales. Moreover, this system is
not time consuming so it will ensure the efficiency and proper maximization of time in
the operation run.

Objectives of the Study

The following are the objectives of the study:
1. To make the ordering system fast and efficient, and to maximize and improve
the performance of the clerk.
2. To monitor the increase or decrease in the inventory of the shop.
3. To track the daily sales of the shop.

Scope and Limitations & Delimitation

The researcher aims to create a data base system for Coffee Shop owners and
other Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to make ease their business process in terms
of sales, checking their inventory and the list of products. It is easy to use for its basic
manipulation. The system will only allow the assigned staff/cashier to put their
corresponding username and password. The system, therefore will log-in the staff. The
system also consists of three main parts: Products, Product Check and Sales. Product
Check summarizes the daily sales and the products that were sold.
Moreover, the system is basic, with only few functions, which is suitable for small
business.

Significance of the Study

The proposed project will specifically improve the performance of the clerk and the
whole business itself. It will also monitor and update the inventory records of each item.
Moreover, this system will be beneficial to the following:
Coffee Shop Owners. These owners will be informed of the benefits of having a
database system that might help in solving their particular problems/needs. Using this
system, ordering process can be done in an uncomplicated manner.
Other Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This study might also be of
great assistance to other businesses that are starting to progress in the market.
Future Researchers. This study can be used by the future researchers as a
guide in constructing the same field of study.
