Hymn of Praise

Unison Scriptures
2 CoRinThiAnS 12:8-9 (nRSV)
Three times I appealed to the Lord about
this, that it would leave me, 9but he said
to me, My grace is sufficient for you,
for power is made perfect in weakness.
So, I will boast all the more gladly of my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ
may dwell in me.

I am kept by the grace of God.

I am kept by the grace,
the grace of God;
He protects me, He directs me.
Keeps a hedge all around me,
Im kept by the grace of God.

-----------------------

2 CoRinThiAnS 12:7-10 (MSG)

Because of the extravagance of those
revelations, and so I wouldnt get a big
head, I was given the gift of a handicap to
keep me in constant touch with my limitations. Satans angel did his best to get me
down; what he in fact did was push me
to my knees. No danger then of walking
around high and mighty! At first I didnt
think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then
he told me,
7-10

My grace is enough; its all you need.

My strength comes into its own
in your weakness.
Once I heard that, I was glad to let it
happen. I quit focusing on the handicap
and began appreciating the gift. It was a
case of Christs strength moving in on my
weakness. Now I take limitations in stride,
and with good cheer, these limitations that
cut me down to sizeabuse, accidents,
opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ
take over! And so the weaker I get, the
stronger I become.

Confession of Sins
Almighty and Most Merciful Father, we
come before You, acknowledging our sins,
our shortcomings, and our breaking of our
Covenant with You.

Not only are we guilty of that, O Lord; but we have also closed our eyes and
pretended not to see the injustices, the racism and the evil which pervade our
everyday lives.
We have shut our ears and pretended not to hear the cries for liberation which
come from the lips, lives and hearts of the oppressed even our own Black
brothers and sisters!
Forgive us, O Lord, renew our courage and faith, and keep us ever mindful of Thy
great sacrifice. Hear us, we beseech Thee, as we come to You in love and worship
giving Your Name the praise forevermore.
******
To All Our Visitors ... To all who mourn and need comforting ... To all who
are friendless and want friendship ... To all who are oppressed and need
liberation; and to whosoever will come, Trinity opens its doors. Thank you
for coming, and may God bless you.

DREAMCATCHER

A film by Kim Longinotto

Saturday, April 30, 2016

2:00 p.m. Sanctuary

Dreamcatcher takes us into a hidden world through the eyes of one of its survivors, Brenda MyersPowell, a former teenage prostitute who worked the streets of Chicago who defied the odds to become a
powerful advocate for change in her community. After a violent encounter with a john, Brenda woke up
in the hospital and decided to change her life. Today she is a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength for
hundreds of women and girls as young as fourteen who want to change their own lives. Dreamcatcher
explores the cycle of neglect, violence and exploitation which each year leaves thousands upon thousands
of girls and women feeling that prostitution is their only option to survive. With warmth and humor,
Brenda gives hope to those who have none. Her story is their inspiration.
