Introduction
This document provides instructions on how to set up an integration between Cisco Unity and Cisco Unified
Communications Manager along with Microsoft Exchange and to troubleshoot the error of blank popup screen
when you add new Subscribers in Cisco Unity through SAWeb interface.

Prerequisites
Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this document.

Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
Cisco Unity Release 5.x or later with Microsoft Exchange
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 7.x

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the
devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure
that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Main Task
In this section, you are presented with the information needed to configure the features described in this
document:
1. Add Voice Mail Ports to Cisco Unified CM
2. Add Line Group to Hunt List
3. Add the Hunt List to a Hunt Pilot Number
4. Specify MWI Directory Numbers
5. Add a Voice Mail Pilot Number for the Voice Mail Ports
6. Set Up the Voice Mail Profile and associate it to the Voice mail Pilot Number
The next step is to Install and Configure Cisco Unity Software with Exchange Server:
1. Determine the Partner Exchange Server
2. Install Exchange Administration Software on the Cisco Unity Server
3. Extend the Active Directory Schema for Cisco Unity
4. Create Organizational Units and a Mailbox Store
5. After Installation of Exchange in first place, Install Cisco Unity Software
Note: Now you need to install Cisco Unity. Refer to Installing and Configuring Cisco Unity Software
for more information.
After you ensure that Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity are ready for the integration,

complete this procedure, which is mentioned in the Integrate Cisco Unity with Cisco Unified Communications
Manager section in order to set up the integration and to enter the port settings.

Add Voice Mail Ports to Cisco Unified CM

Complete these steps in order to add voice mail ports to Cisco Unified CM:

that you accept the default name for the voice mail server. However, if you must use a different name,
the name must have no more than nine characters.

4. Click Next.
5. On the Cisco Voice Mail Ports page, click the number of voice mail ports that you want to add, which
must not be more voice mail ports than the Cisco Unity license enables. Click Next.

6. On the Cisco Voice Mail Device Information page, enter these voice mail device settings, and click
Next:

7. On the Cisco Voice Mail Directory Numbers page, enter these voice mail directory number settings.

settings that you configured in the previous windows. The Cisco Voice Mail Port Wizard
automatically assigns the correct values for each port.

12. If this information is correct, click Finish in order to add the new ports. If the information shown is
not correct, click the Back button in order to edit the information or Cancel in order to quit without
adding any ports.

Create a New Integration with Cisco Unity and Exchange

Server
Configure Exchange 2003 for Cisco Unity
If you chose an Exchange 2003 server as the partner Exchange server, configure offline address books for
Outlook 2003 and earlier regardless of which version(s) of Outlook you use, or Cisco Unity does not function
properly.
1. Log on to an Exchange 2003 server, and start Exchange Management Console.
2. In the console tree, click Microsoft Exchange.
3. In the result pane, click the Finalize Deployment tab.
4. In the Mailbox section, click Configure Offline Address Book (OAB) Distribution for Outlook 2003
and Earlier Clients.
5. Complete the steps in order to create a public folder database and to configure the default offline
address book.

Extend the Active Directory Schema for Cisco Unity

Several changes need to be made to the Active Directory schema in order for Cisco Unity to work properly.
Choose Schema > LdifScripts on Cisco Unity DVD 1, and view the file Avdirmonex2k.ldf in order to see the
changes that the schema update program makes.

Changes to the Active Directory schema can take 15 minutes or more to replicate throughout the forest. The
changes must finish replicating before you can install Cisco Unity.
1. Confirm that all domain controllers are on line. The Active Directory schema extensions replicate
only when all domain controllers are on line.
2. On the computer that has the schema master role, typically the first DC/GC in the forest, log on to
Windows as a user who is a member of the Schema Admins group.
3. On Cisco Unity DVD 1, browse to the directory ADSchemaSetup, and doubleclick
ADSchemaSetup.exe.
4. In the Active Directory Schema Setup dialog box, check the Exchange Directory Monitor check
box.
5. If you plan to use VPIM Networking or Cisco Unity Bridge Networking, check the applicable check
boxes.
6. Click OK.
7. When the schema extension has finished, Ldif.log and Ldif.err files are saved to the desktop. View the
contents of the files in order to confirm that the extension completed successfully.

Create Organizational Units and a Mailbox Store

Users and distribution lists are created in locations that you specify. If you want users and distribution lists to
be created in custom organizational units (OUs), create the OUs now. Both OUs need to be in the same
domain, but they do not need to be in the same domain as the Cisco Unity server. Refer to Active Directory
Users and Computers Help for more information on how to create OUs.
You also have the option to create a custom mailbox store as the default for subscribers that are added through
the Cisco Unity Administrator or that are imported from a CSV file. Refer to Exchange System Manager Help
for more information on how to create a custom mailbox store. Later in the installation process, you configure
Cisco Unity to use the mailbox store.

Cisco Unity Software Installation

Use the Cisco Unity Installation and Configuration Assistant in order to run these programs in a specific order
and complete the installation in order to install and configure Cisco Unity software. Complete these steps:
1. Check the system and install the Cisco Unity software.
2. Install the Cisco Unity licenses.
3. Configure the Cisco Unity services.
4. Configure Cisco Unity for the message store.
5. Set new default passwords for the Default Administrator and the Default Subscriber templates.
6. Integrate Cisco Unity with the phone system.
7. Configure the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant to use SSL.

Integrate Cisco Unity with Cisco Unified Communications

Manager

and of the publisher Cisco Unified CM server. Then click Add after you enter each so that the IP
addresses of all secondary servers appear in the list. If there is only one Cisco Unified CM server in
the cluster, leave this page blank.
8. If you want Cisco Unity to automatically reconnect to the primary Cisco Unified CM server after the
failover has been corrected, check the Reconnect to primary CUCM/CCM server check box.

9. Click Next.
10. On the Enter CUCM/CCM MWI Extensions page, enter these settings shown here, and click Next:

System.

16. In order to restart the Cisco Unity services, click Yes at the prompt. The Cisco Unity services restart.

17. On CUCM, you will now see that the Voice Mail Port was registered with the Unity Server IP
Address.

Configure Subscriber to Receive the Voice Mail

The initial phase of the integration of Cisco Unity with Cisco Unified Communications Manager can be done
