Soil Testing

The provision of accurate geotechnical information for a site is a critical aspect of our business for the subsequent
design of the foundation and footings for a proposed structure.
The site investigations are carried out by qualified geotechnical practitioners using truck mounted mechanical augers
or hand augers.
The required number of boreholes are drilled to a sufficient depth and the soil samples analysed in accordance with
relevant Australian and industry standards to provide an accurate representation of the soil profile and conditions
present on the site.
All residential building sites are classified in accordance with the current standard AS 2870-2011.
A written geotechnical report is issued for each site investigation, which contains geotechnical results and footing
recommendations. Any site specific features such as existing/removed trees and structures or observations regarding
construction on adjacent sites are included to provide a comprehensive snap shot of the current site conditions
prevailing on any particular site.

Wind Rating
Our staff are experienced to assess and provide wind classifications for housing in accordance with AS4055-2006
"Wind loads for housing".

Fill Compaction Control

The co-ordination of Inspection and Testing of Level 1 fill placement in accordance with AS3798-2007 is undertaken
for residential subdivisions. Lot clearing certificates are issued at the completion of the filling process.

Surveying Works is an associated land surveying company with expertise in survey support services
relating to land use, its management and development.
Services include:

Feature surveys to provide site levels, contour information and location of services for
development applications
Title and land information searching
Flood level surveys to Australian Height Datum (AHD)
Certified property surveys including re-establishment of title, remarking of lots in recent
subdivisions

Our surveying instrumentation incorporate "state of the art" Robotic Total Stations. We utilize a
number of spatial information support software packages, which allow data to be exported in formats
compatible with AutoCAD, Microstation and other commonly adopted drawing packages. Survey
levels plans can be provided in electronic format as required and modified to individual specifications
to enable their use as base drawings for site plans as part of the overall architectural plans.

Structural Design
Structural Works has particular expertise in the efficient design of housing and low-rise structures including medium
density apartments utilising multi-residential timber-framed construction. We traditionally handle large volumes of
typical residential structures and have developed systems to provide efficient designs for the benefit of our clients.
The company has extensive experience in footing design including waffle raft, raft slab, strip/pad footings and piled
footing systems. Efficiencies in design are driven through close cooperation with our geotechnical division.
Our commercial division has expertise in the design of residential, commercial and light industrial structures
incorporating portal frames, pre-cast panels, industrial slabs, bored piers/continuous piles, shotcrete walls, retaining
structures as well as masonry, steel and concrete members.
