Accept Regisfrar of Voters' report of early voting locations and schedule for the 2016
Primary Election per NRS 293.3561 (2b).

Tb provide ample opportunity to ensure that each person in Washoe County who is
eligible, is able to cast his/her votefor the candidate or ballot question of his/her choice

BACKGROT]NI)
Early Voting has become increasingly popular with voters. Approximately 50% of
Washoe County's voters who tum out, now choose to vote early. Each election cycle, the
Registrar seeks to meet the demand for early voting by supplying an adequate number of
locations that will allow voters, in each geographical areaof the community, to access a
location near their home or place of work.

FISCAL IMPACT
Early Voting's costs are dependent upon the number of locations and hours of operation
per election. Tlpically, a Primary Election will cost approximately $125,000 and a
General Election will cost between $150,000 and $175,000. These expenses are currently
allowed for in the Registrar of Voters election budget.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board of County Commissioners accept Regisfiar of Voters'
report of early voting locations and schedule for the2016 Primary Election per NRS
293.3s61 (2b).

POSSIBLE MOTION
Should the Board agree with staffs recommendation, a possible motion would be:
"Move to accept Regishar of Voters' report of early voting locations and schedule for the
2016 Primary Election per NRS 293.3561 (2b)."
