How to Simulate Workflow Process "Marketing Campaign Load"? [ID 577574.1]

Goal
While simulating workflow process "Marketing Campaign Load", when the simulator gets to step "Update 'Campaign Load' Task (In Progress)" the
next error message is generated:
"The query could not be run because there is an invalid character in the field '<?>'. Please ensure that the value in the field is formatted correctly
with only valid characters.
Missing quotes around the search criteria or unnecessary punctuation will often cause an error.(SBL-DAT-00403)".
What is the needed setup to simulate "Marketing Campaign Load" workflow process?

Solution
To simulate workflow process "Marketing Campaign Load", please follow the next steps

1) In Tools, navigate to View Menu, select Options... option and Debug tab and specify the setting there according to the following screen shot. In
the Data Source, in this test was selected Sample, but you may select the Data Source according to your desire.

2) In Tools, navigate to Worlfow Process List. Query for Marketing Campaign Load workflow and select Revise. A new instance of Marketing
Campaign Load workflow should be created with status "In progress".

3) The SBL-DAT-00403 error that is obtained as you are trying to simulate the standard workflow process, is related to the fact that Workflow
Process "Marketing Campaign Load" contains steps that include special characters in their names. For example step "Update 'Campaign Load'
Task (In Progress)" contains apostrophe (') character in the name. The special characters in the workflow process step's name generate the error
message SBL-DAT-00403 in the simulation of the workflow process.

4) The workaround for testing simulation of workflow process "Marketing Campaign Load" requires the following modifications:
a. modify the name of the step Update 'Campaign Load' Task (In Progress) to Update Campaign Load Task In Progress
b. modify the name of the step Update 'Campaign Load' Task (Complated) to Update Campaign Load Task Complated

c. remove all the standard connectors stepping out of or into these two steps and add new ones instead, so that the new names of the steps are
referred by the new connectors.
d. in object explorer select Workflow Process > WF Process Prop child and in Default String property of the Campaign Id specify the ROW ID of
the campaign you want to test.
e. in object explorer select Workflow Process > WF Process Prop child and in Default String property of the Campaign Id specify the ROW ID of
the campaign you want to test, as in the following screen shot.

5) Right Click the Marketing Campaign Load Workflow and select Simulate Workflow Process option.
