1 General
Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to
an end-user while being delivered by a provider. Its verb form, "to stream", refers to the process of delivering media in this manner; the term refers to the
delivery method of the medium rather than the medium itself.

2 Description
The Bedside terminals MediStream 10" and MediStream 15" offer the possibility to receive
streaming TV.
The MediStream terminals 10and 15 can be operated as a pure stand-alone devices that operated via the touch screen or the function keys.
It is also possible to control the terminals with the VISOCALL- IP PAT or PAT-E. This function is
available with VISOCALL- IP software version 4.3.1.
When controlling via the VISOCALL IP patient terminal PAT or PAT-E in addition, the audio
transmission is on the patient terminal with the following types or variants available:

ATTENTION!
When using an analog TV signal on MediStream 15", the audio from the MediStream 15 can not be transmitted to the patient terminal.

For the integration of the BedSide Terminals a private network (VLAN) with automatic IP address allocation with a DHCP server is required.

4 Integration of IPTV in VISOCALL IP

Option 1: Streaming treatment in the house.
An IPTV headend converts the signals of DVB-S,
DVB-T, DVB-C but also additional signals from video
equipment, etc. into an IP stream.

VISOCALL IP Network

The multimedia services are supplied as a

separate VLAN in the VISOCALL- IP network

DHCP Server
Option 2: The hospital is supplied directly from the
cable operator with streaming TV (IPTV).

The DHCP server is

used for automatic IP
address assignment.

Internet
The Internet is needed to
1. provide the Internet functionality at the bed.
2. configure the MediStream terminals (commissioning, updates, maintenance, etc.)
Providing by the

Router
In order to control the streaming terminals with VISOCALL- IP (PAT), a routing
between the two networks is necessary.
A routing-capable switch can also accomplish this task.

MyMediNet Proxy
(Update Server)
The MyMediNet proxy (VM) software is needed to use the central distribution of configurations to the terminals (necessary from 30 terminals).

5 Beschreibung
The integration of IPTV streams occurs as an independent network (VLAN).
There are 4 options to connect the TV set.
Connecting the TV set
1. directly at the ward switch
2. on port 8 of the SWI9
3. the connection module (SM or SM-MMC)
4. on port 2 of the KMT's (from VISOCALL- IP Software 4.3)
The control is carried out either as
1. a standalone device (touch-screen control and function keys), open sound or sound via
headphones or
2. via the VISOCALL IP patient terminal PAT or PAT-E, open sound or sound from the headphones or sound on the patient terminal.

ACHTUNG!
When controlling via the VISOCALL IP patient terminal PAT or PAT-E a routing between the streaming network and the VISOCALL IP network is imperative.
This function is available with VISOCALL- IP software version 4.3.1.

6 MyMediNet Proxy
The MyMediNet proxy software is needed to use the central distribution of configurations to the
terminals (from 30 terminals connected).
The MyMediNet Proxy Server provides the configuration data and image updates of terminals and
realizes the distribution of the configuration files to the connected devices.

VISOCALL IP

If no proxy server is used, all terminals load the update individually and at the same time. In this
way, the Internet will be fully occupied..
The devices get the updates from the MediNet proxy (VM) software.
Only five terminals will be updated at the same time. Only when one of these devices has been
updated successfully, the next terminal retrieves the files and updated also.
This process continues until all devices are up to date and have reported positive in the system.

7 Commissioning, update, maintenance

For commissioning, maintenance or update an Internet connection is required. Here, the following
addresses or ports in the firewall must be released at least temporarily.
