This Standard supercedes GB 9743-1997 Passenger car tyres.
There have been some significant changes in this Standard over its previous edition in the
following aspects:
--

The size designation tables are cancelled; it makes available such content in form of
references (Para. 4.1 in version 1997; Para. 4.1 of current version);

--

The index of minimum breaking energy for passenger car diagonal tyre is integrated into
the table (Para. 4.3.1 in version 1997; Para. 4.5.1 of current version);

--

The appraisal of arithmetic average of breaking energy of 5 points is changed into the
appraisal at each point (Para. 4.3.1 in version 1997; Para. 4.5.1 of current version);

--

The performance requirements for T-type tyres are added (Tables 1 and 2 of current
version);

--

The inspection rules are cancelled (Chapter 6 of version 1997);

--

The table of tyre maximum speed is cancelled (Table 13 of version 1997);

--

The tyre marking requirements are amended (Chapter 7 of version 1997; Chapter 6 of
current version).

Both Annex A and Annex B herein are normative.

After endurance test, the inflation pressure of tires can not be lower than the specific
beginning pressure. No failures like separation (tread, sidewall, ply, innerliner, belt, bead),ply
split, cord separation, cord break, chunking, open splice, cracking, and abnormal deforming etc.
on truck tires is permitted to be found for tire appearance.
4.5.3 High speed performance
After high performance, the inflation pressure of tires can not be lower than the specific
beginning pressure. No failures like separation (tread, sidewall, ply, innerliner, belt, bead),ply
split, cord separation, cord break, chunking, open splice, cracking, and abnormal deforming etc.
on truck tires is permitted to be found for tire appearance.
4.6 Treadwear Indicators
4.6.1 Each tire shall have at least 4 treadwear indicators spaced equally around the
circumference of the tyre that enable a persona inspecting the tire to determine visually
whether the tire has torn. The TWI for ultra and light truck is not less than 1.6mm, for medium
and heavy truck tires, the TWI is not less than 2.0mm.
4.6.2 Marks indicating the treadwear indicators must be molded on both shoulders of the tire.
4.7 Appearance quality
4.7.1 No tire appearance defect significantly effecting service endurance shall be permitted like
separation in parts, spongy, bead broken, bead ring drawn up, cords broken, cords wrinkled
inside tire and crown cord flashed. Fragmentary or cracking in the flap shall not be permitted.
4.7.2 Other appearance quality requirement of tire and flap must be in accordance with what
specified in HG/T 2177.
5. TESTING METHOD
5.1 Tire inflated overall diameter, section width and static loading performance should be
measured according to GB/T521
5.2 Tire strength must be tested according to GB/T 6327
5.3 Tire endurance performance must be tested according to GB/T 4501
5.4 High speed performace of ultra-light and light truck tires must be tested according to GB/T
7035
5.5 Appearance quality shall be checked according to HG/T2177
