Star Trek 3: Fast And The Furious Director Justin Lin Leads Star Trek 3

When one director leaves, another boldly will go where several other directors have gone
before. Justin Lin, the filmmaker best known for his work behind the camera with
the Fast and Furious series, will fill Roberto Orci's shoes and helm Star Trek 3.
Deadline confirmed the news. This comes after Lin was on Paramount's wishlist of
directors for the job. Other filmmakers desired included Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet
of the Apes), Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), David Espinosa (Safe House) and
Duncan Jones (the upcoming Warcraft, Source Code).
According to the report, Lin was the only one who officially received an offer.
Screenwriter Orci dropped Star Trek 3 as his directorial debut earlier this month. J.J.
Abrams, who helmed the last two films in the series, 2009's Star Trek and last
year's Star Trek Into Darkness, is busy making the little-known sequel Star Wars: The
Force Awakens and cannot commit.
He remains on the project as a producer through his company Bad Robot. Orci also
remains connected as producer and co-writer.
Lin will jump onto the new action sequel once he finishes up directing the first two
episodes of True Detective's new season.
Lin was also set to direct the sequel to The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner, but that
got postponed when Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass agreed to make another
film.
At one point, Lin was also being considered to make the multi-part finale to the Fast and
Furious series, but he's likely not making that on account of this recent hiring.

Kim Kardashian: Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Are The New Balmain Paris
Faces
Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are the new faces of Balmain.
The 37-year-old rapper and his reality TV star wife, 34 - who are close friends of the
Parisian brand's creative director Olivier Rousteing - star together in the label's
spring/summer 2015 men's campaign, entitled 'Army of Lovers'.
Olivier, 28, admitted it has been an ''honour'' to have the pair - who were married in a
lavish Italian ceremony in May this year and have an 18-month-old daughter North West
together - appearing in the adverts.
He said in a statement: ''For this menswear campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of
love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honour to have them in this
Balmain campaign.''
Olivier added that he chose the world-famous couple as they represent ''love, beauty and
diversity''.
He said: ''Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity - they are the new
modernity. This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes - it is a
celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain.''
Brunette beauty Kim - who sported a short beaded creation of Olivier's to her wedding
reception earlier this year - took to Twitter yesterday (22.12.14) to share a steamy shot
from the campaign which shows her in an intimate embrace with the 'Stronger' hitmaker.
She posted the image to her 26.7 million followers, along with the caption:
''BALMAIN!!!!!!''
She later tweeted another image from the stylish shoot, along with the words: ''Balmain
Spring/Summer 2015 campaign.''

Apple Mac OS Update: Apple Rolls Out Mac OS Updates Without Informing Users;
Says It Is To Throw Off Hackers
Apple is updating its Macs to guard against hackers taking control -- the first time a Mac
update has been sent out automatically without requiring your permission.
The automated security update protects Apple laptops and desktops from newly
discovered security vulnerability CVE-2014-9295, which affects OS X and other Linux
and Unix distributions.
Speaking to Reuters, Apple spokesperson Bill Evans described Monday's update as
"seamless" and noted that Mac users don't even need to restart their computers.
Apple isn't the only company that could be vulnerable to the security bug, which was
revealed Friday by the US Department of Homeland Security and the Carnegie Mellon
University Software Engineering Institute.
Researchers warn that vulnerabilities in a computer's network time protocol (NTP), which
sync a computer's clocks, could allow hackers to take control of a computer remotely.
"Apple's proactive steps to automatically remediate this particular vulnerability shows the
need to quickly patch remotely exploitable vulnerabilities," says security analyst Ken
Westin of Tripwire. "However, the use of Apple's automatic deployment tool is not without
risks, as even the simplest update can cause problems for some systems. In this case
the update may have been so minor the risk of affecting other applications and
processes was minimal."
Previously, Apple's security updates have required a computer user to accept the update.
The company has actually had a method to automatically update computers for two
years but is only now using it for the first time.
What if someone doesn't want automatic updates? Westin advises: "If you have a Mac
system where an automatic update might introduce a problem -- or you are the paranoid
type -- it can be disabled by going to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > App Store
and unchecking Install system data files and security updates."

Meizu M1: China Phone Company Introduces New Meizu M1; Get Samsung Galaxy
Note 4 Specs With Apple iPhone 5c Looks
Meizu has announced the M1 Note, a new smartphone designed to take on the Xiaomi
Redmi Note.
While the popular Xiaomi phone is well-priced and comparatively well-specced, Meizus
phone goes a step beyond.
It maintains the low cost, but boosts the majority of the specifications, to make a phone
which on paper, appears to be almost too good to be true.
The M1 Notes screen measures 5.5-inches, matching the Redmi Note, but has a 1080p
resolution. Its also one of Sharps energy efficient IGZO panels, as seen on phones
including the Sharp Aquos Crystal, and has a 400ppi pixel density.
Meizu has chosen the MediaTek MT6752 processor to power the M1 Note a 64-bit,
2GHz chip with 2GB of RAM.
Clearly influenced by Apples iPhone 5C, Meizu will release the M1 Note in a variety of
cool colors, and like Apples phone, they are attractive, pastel shades. Influences dont
stop at the style either, just check out some of the promotional images above and spot
the similarities between Meizus efforts and Apples 5C campaign.
The polycarbonate unibody will come in green, blue, yellow, pink, and white. Its not the
thinnest phone at 8.9mm, but crucially thats less than the Redmi Note 4G, and its also
lighter at 145 grams.
A 13-megapixel camera produced by Samsung is fitted to the rear, along with a dual tone
LED flash, and a 5-megapixel f2.0 camera is found above the screen.
A choice of either 16GB or 32GB internal storage space will be available. A 3140mAh
battery provides the energy, plus the phone has Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi,
4G, and dual-SIM slots. Despite leaks saying otherwise, it looks like Meizu has
installed Android with its Flyme user interface over the top.
Only a short while ago, this was a range-topping spec, and a phone sporting it would
have cost more than $500 without a contract.
The Samsung Galaxy S4, for example. Meizu will selling the M1 Note in China for the
equivalent of $160, which makes it appear incredible value for money.

The release date hasnt been confirmed, but theres every chance itll be available for
sale internationally through the meizumart.com online store.

Sony Hack: Sony Threatens To Sue Twitter Over Sony Hacked Emails Tweets
Sony has told Twitter it must suspend the accounts of people who posted hacked
material from the movie studio and block those tweets -- or face legal consequences.
David Boies, Sony's top attorney, had already written to traditional news organizations,
including CNN, asking them to stop examining and publicizing the corporate secrets that
hackers have made public.
The letter to Twitter (TWTR, Tech30), first reported by the Los Angeles Times, shows
that Sony is trying to stop the spread of the hacked material via social networks as well.
Sony (SNE) specifically cited one Twitter user who goes by the handle
@BikiniRobotArmy, and asks that Twitter suspend his account.
Boies wrote that Sony "does not consent to Twitter's or any Twitter account holder's
possession, review, copying, dissemination, publication, uploading, downloading, or
making any use of the stolen information, and to request your cooperation in suspending
the account holder's Twitter account and the account of any other user seeking to
disseminate the stolen information via Twitter."
As of Tuesday morning the account was still active and the user, who identifies himself
as Val Broeksmit, was posting tweets of support he was receiving.
"Today, we are all @BikiniRobotArmy," tweeted one supporter.
The hacked material includes a wealth of embarrassing information about the operations
of Sony Pictures, including negative comments about movie stars and details of pay
agreements with various actors.
Boies' letter argues that tweeting the hacked material not only violates U.S. law but also
Twitter's own terms of use, which prohibit publishing copyrighted materials, other
people's private and confidential information, as well as the use of Twitter for any
unlawful purpose.
The Boies letter was posted by the Wall Street Journal. Spokespeople for Sony, Boies
and Twitter did not immediately respond to requests for comment early Tuesday
