Guideline for Preparation of Dissertation Reports

THESIS COVER COLOR:

Dissertation : Blue with golden color texts

Paper: Good quality

CONTENTS : Following should be the order of contents for the thesis/ dissertation. Sample
copy for each is given in Annexure.

2. Inside Cover Page
3. Approval sheet
4. Student declaration
5. Acknowledgement
6. Abstract / Executive Summary
7. Table of Contents
8. Abbreviations/ Acronyms
9. List of Tables ( if any)
10. List of Figures ( if any)
11. Chapters
12. References
13. Appendix

NUMBERING:
All the pages in the thesis/dissertation except the cover pages, dedication and certificate must be
numbered. All the page numbers should be located at the bottom center of the.
The page numbering starting from acknowledgement up to the beginning of the Chapters, should
be numbered in small roman letters, i.e. i, ii, iii, iv ......
The page numbering starting from the beginning of Chapter 1 up to the end of the
thesis/dissertation, should be numbered in Arabic numerals, i.e. ,1,2,3, ........

PREPARATION OF CHAPTERS:

Colour : All the texts including Tables should be Black prints. However, Graphs and Figures can
have colour prints.
Font :
Chapter Heading : Times New Roman 15 pts, bold print all capitals
Section Heading : Times New Roman 12 pts, bold print all capitals
Subsection Headings : Times New Roman 12 pts, (Sentence case, bold)
(only first letter in each work will be capital)
Spacing / Alignment:
Use 1.5 spacing between lines of regular texts.
Use double spacing between:
1. Paragraphs
2. Chapter title and section headings
3. Section headings and paragraphs
4. Paragraphs and Tables/ Figures
Use single spacing between:
1 Table title and Table
2 Figure title and Figure
3 Text corresponding to bullets, listing and quotes in the main body of text.
Photos:
Use colour photos if they are necessary. Insert color print of the photo in photographic or glossy
paper and should be numbered and referred to as Figures only

Referencing
The referencing style suggested is "APA Style, however it may vary according to disciplines.

Overall arrangement of the total references / bibliography should be in alphabetical order
