Alexandra Leykauf studied audio-visual media and photography, and is based in Berlin. In her
work, she appropriates the gender-oriented or feminine cultural gaze via the medium of
photography, playing with varying degrees of appropriation in order to reveal the superficiality of
images. Leykauf often deconstructs various features of photography and cinema, thereby
revealing the complexity inherent to the construction of images. This substantial artists book
presents numerous of these appropriations and deconstructions, along with critical texts by
Dominikus Mller, Jonathan Pouthier, Robert Barry, and Maria Barnas. A conversation with
Leykauf completes this in-depth analysis.

Dirk Zoete - The Be- Part Exercises

ROMA Publications 2016 ISBN 9789491843570 Acqn 26131
Pb 20x26cm 128pp 158ills 108col 22.50
This book documents the act of drawing in the midst of becoming. The exercises it presents were
created for an exhibition by Dirk Zoete in 2016. He used the space to translate his drawings into
three-dimensional theatrical sculptures, embodied by actors photographed in filmic series. The
images were then digitally edited and drawn upon. The characters seem to be frozen in a reenactment of the drawings upon which they were based. Through repetition and change, they
reflect a geometrical rhythm in different patterns and constellations. Zoetes drawings essentially
explore the creation of space through line, but without ever aspiring to become an actual space.

Uta Eisenreich - James Langdon A Play

ROMA Publications 2016 ISBN 9789491843600 Acqn 26180
Pb 18x11cm 96pp col ills 13.50
This book is published in accompaniment to 'Things On A Table', a performance by Uta
Eisenreich and Eva Meyer-Keller. The performers handle and display a collection of everyday
objects, following the text 'Objects Lie On A Table' by Gertrude Stein as a score. Stein's objects a pot, a pan, a ladle, etc. - are at once their humble selves and characters in a series cryptic
narratives. The book departs from Stein's text in an alternative, entirely graphic direction,
constructing narrative from a set of simple geometric shapes. These forms follow the same logic
of transformation, asking the reader, for example: 'Am I a saucer, or a moon, or just a circle of
printed ink?'
