With the completed Deathtrap set making a backdrop, Michael Michaud scans his lines for the upcoming Crossroads
Theatre Guild production.
again, it burst into activity.
Guild members made improvements to the buildings restrooms, built a stage and began
producing an array of plays.
Among them were You Cant
Take it With You, And Then
There Were None, The Red
Velvet Cake War, Rexs Exes,
Nunsense, Death Takes a
Holiday and Exit the Body.
The group also served in an advisory role for some youth productions and was involved with
the fundraising play Mystery at
the Reed City Library.
Now an eclectic mix of people
is working on a production of
Deathtrap.
Directing the play is Ron
Ingraham. The retired electronics engineer has a long history
working with community theater groups. He was in his first
play when he was 4. He has been
with Crossroads since its inception. And with his engineering
background, he has done a lot
more than direct the actors and
actresses on stage.
The play, of course, hardly
needs an introduction. The 1978
work from the pen of Ira Levin
features murders, intrigue and
comic relief. In the play, the play
of a young playwright comes to
the attention of a writer whose
well has run dry. The experienced playwright conspires to
steal the young writers play.
After the smoke clears, three
people are dead and a psychic
has her hands on a purloined
script.
around for Deathtrap, David suggested Nedra read for the role
of Myra Bruhl. She did and won
the part.
Also in the play is Michael
Michaud. He is Porter Milgrim,
Sidney Bruhls lawyer.
He grew up in Lansing. He
worked for the Red Cross in
Washington, D.C., and Ludington for 27 years before retiring.
He has been involved in theatrical productions for years.
I went to a few plays, worked
backstage and suddenly found
myself onstage, he said. He
likes Deathtrap because of its
intrigue.
Resi Westgate rounds out the
cast. She will be psychic Helga
ten Dorp,
Westgate is from Florida. She
has been living in Michigan for
six years now. She was involved
with high school productions.
Later, she began doing some
improvisation work with the
Screen Actors Guild and spent
some time doing independent
films with Closed Space Productions.
Resi is a person with bi-polar
disorder. She lives her life, she
said, with a anxiety, mania and
depression and the only time
she can rid herself form those
is when she is onstage. For her,
acting is a magnificent cure-all,
because it allows me to be somebody else for just a moment.
Acting is something I will never
give up.
Neither, apparently, will the
guild.

Weinberg said the event
has a threefold purpose.
First, it promotes restaurants and caterers that
serve Osceola County. Second, it provides a familyfriendly event. Third, it
raises funds for the Commission on Aging and the

IDLEWILD The
Idlewild Music Festival
will be held July 9 and 10
on Williams Island. Williams Island is in the community of Idlewild in Lake

1912 land venture established to attract middleclass Africans to the area
and sell them land.

Saturday, July 9, will be the
ZAPP Band. Also slated
to perform Saturday are
Athena Johnson, David
Gerald, Thorneta Davis
and Yancyy.
The Sunday lineup includes Rance Allen and the
Rance Allen Group, Alyson
Williams, Chris Bolton,
Suai, Orrick Ewing, Eric
Darius and Eric Rainman Gaston.
Detroit radio personalities Mason and Cocl will
host the event.
