SUMMARY

In this experiment, we use manometer, multimeter, a vacuum pump; a hand held

terminal, a hand pump, an absolute pressure transmitter , a pressure gauge and pressure
gauge transmitter as our device to measure the pressure. There are 2 experiments that had
been held, the first experiment is pressure measurement and the second is calibration
check.
For the first experiment we have to run seven times to get the reading. For the
first run the suggest pressure is 30 psig, and then 25 psig, 20 psig, 15 psig, 10 psig, 5 psig
and lastly 0 psig. The value of the actual gauge pressure several differences with the
suggested pressure because of the human error and using wrong technique when handle
the devices

INTRODUCTION
This Model PMC 200 plant is a scaled-down real industry process plant built on
5ft x 5ft steel platform, complete with its own dedicated control panel. The process
equipment and process instrumentation are real industrial process type. The plant is
constructed in accordance to industrial process plant standards and practices, with failsafe features.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the experiment was to evaluate and study measurement of
pressure [ Absolute Pressure Transmitter (PT1),Gauge Pressure Transmitter (PT2) and
Pressure Gauge (PG) ] and To check the site calibration of the above pressure measuring
instruments [ Hand Pump, Vacuum Pump, Manometer, Multimeter, Hand Held Terminal
to configure/calibrate PT1, PT2

DISCUSSION
From Table 1, we can see clearly the average different between psia and psig is
around 14.7 psia even though we do with the different suggested pressure. This is because
of the value of atmosphere is constant 14.7 psia. Then the value that we obtained is not
very accurate because of the error, such as manufacturing tolerance, signal conditioning
and display resolution. The important term that related the sensor and transmitter range of
instrument (low and high value range), span of instrument (different high-low) and zero
of the instrument (low value).
In this experiment we used a Manometer, a Hand Pump, Multimeter and a Hand
Held Terminal as the devices to check the calibration of the pressure measuring
instruments. It is to evaluate of pressure using An Absolute Transmitter (PT1) and An
Pressure Gauge (PG). In our experiment, there is a different value between actual gauge
pressure and the gauge pressure reading from the measurement device. It could be cause
by the unstable pressure while the reading is taken. The readings of the hand pump were
difficult to get because the pressure were not static therefore we have to be very alert to
get an accurate reading

CONCLUSION
Based on experiment we have conclude that how to evaluate and study
measurement of pressure using the following An Absolute Pressure Transmitter, A Gauge
Pressure transmitter and A Pressure Gauge. This experiment require us how to use
electronic and mechanical instrument to measure the pressure. We can conclude that the
reading at pressure gauge and pressure indicator have the deviation. Pressure indicator
gives accurate reading than others.
Besides that, this experiment need us to check the site calibration of the above
pressure measuring instrument using the following A Hand Pump, A Vacuum Pump,
Manometer, Multimeter , and A Hand Held Terminal.

TUTORIAL
1. State whether the pressure is higher/lower/equal at the bottom of the tank filled
with a gas than at the top.
The pressure is equal at the bottom of the tank filled with a gas than at the top because a
gas can be compressed or expanded to fit almost any volume.
2. If the contents of a tank holding 40m3 of gas are transferred to a tank with twice as
much volume and all other factors remain unchanged, what will happen to gas
pressure?
When the value of the volume is decrease, the pressure is also decrease. When the value
of the volume is increase, the pressure is increase while the other factors remain
unchanged. Therefore, doubling the volume of a gas cuts the pressure in half.
3. If the gas in a tank heated and all other factors remain unchanged, what will
happen to the gas pressure?
If the gas in a tank heated and all other factors remain unchanged the gas pressure will
become high and increase. This is because when the heat is transferred from fire to the
tank it makes the atoms or molecules move actively and directly proportional to the
temperature.
4. What are the pressures measuring instruments used in this plant?
The pressure measuring instruments used in this plant are; a Manometer (AMETEK
JOFRA CPC-200 INDG), a Multimeter (GW MODEL GDM-391A), a pressure
indicator and a pressure gauge.
5. Discuss briefly the possible errors affecting the accuracy in pressure measurement
as observed in the experiment.
We did not control pressure/slow down the valve properly and affect the pressure
reading.
Careless.
The equipment is not working properly.
