"As
a
student
at
a
liberal
arts
college
it
is
difficult
to

know
what
an
art
focused
life
looks
like.
I
found
that

through
appren6ceship,
I
had
the
opportunity
to
have
a

full
immersion
experience.

My
internship
opened
the
door

to
focused
conversa6on
of
thinking
and
making
in
the
studio

of
an
ar6st
deeply
engaged
in
contemporary
conversa6ons

around
art.
I
learned
skills
as
they
were
immediately
applied

to
work
that
entered
museums
and

galleries
in
New
York

and
interna6onally.

I
got
a
sense
of
the

discipline
required

to
make
art
in
a
serious
way.
I
also
got
to
meet
many
other

ar6sts
in
the
community
and
was
given

an
inside
look
at

the
range
of
work
being
made
in
New
York.
This
experience

led
me
to
taking
on
interns
of
my
own
now
that
I
am
a

prac6cing
ar6st.
I
am
so
happy
to
con6nue
to
be
a
part
of

this
program.

"From
my
internship
experiences
in
graphic
design
I
have
learned
the

steps
it
takes
to
work
with
a
client,
to
listen
to
their
business

concepts,
ideas,
methods
of
communica@on,
and
transform
it
into
a

crea@ve
product.
I
have
learned
to
use
design
soGware
in
a

professional
manner.
The
internship
showed
me
that
there
is
so
much

more
to
learn
aGer
college
about
the
real
world
of
business
methods

and
standards.”

Chris,
OWU

“
I
think
I
am
more
confident
in
my
work
and
can

apply
this
to
other
areas
of
academia.
The
program

has
made
it
more
clear
to
me
how
the
art
world

operates
and
how
to
a:empt
to
get
your
work
out

there,
as
well
as
the
jobs
that
are
available
and
how

ar@sts
survive.”

Caitlin,

"When
I
was
in
college,
like
most
students,
I
was
trying
to
make
sense
of
my

passions
and
prac:ces
in
a
way
that
I
could
bring
them
out
into
the
world.

I
traveled
to
Italy,
took
all
sorts
of
jobs
but

it
wasn't
un:l
my
semester
in

New
York
with
the
New
York
Arts
Program

that
things
finally
came

together.

Through
my
internships
and
experiences,
which
remain
the
most

valuable
of
my
college
career,
I
saw
how
one
could
integrate
a
passion
for

art
with
everyday
life,
the
struggles
this
presents,
and
the
drive
and

dedica:on
it
takes
to
make
a
life
of
meaning
inside
a
field
I
love.”
