Placement

Pe Slide-uri :
1) Distributed directly to customers through own retail stores and retail partners.
Located in high-traffic, high-visibility locations, focusing on pedestrian customers.
Company also focuses on drive-thru retail stores for the convenience of non-pedestrian
customers.
3).
Pe slide: Trying to reduce stores impact on the environment and this
commitment influences almost every aspect of how they approach design and
construction, including landscape, building methods, materials, lighting and more.

1) Mostly Starbucks is in to direct supply channel (producer to consumer). With their line
of vision such practice is important and it helps to keep a personal relationship with the
customer. In US, particularly Starbucks can be found in any neighborhood where there
is a potential high traffic for its stores especially with Coffee bar concepts. Outlets
can be found in various large chains. Their primary goal is to locate them in highly
visible locations and opened them in clusters. It was the ideal place for the individuals
who are on the go, who enjoy music or even looking for a break in a busy lifestyle.
By opening "stealth outlets" street names instead of Starbucks, they attempt to carry
out their "localize" projects further. Along with the growing demand, they were able to
manage the increased traffic and to keep their competitive edge. Starbucks invested
heavily on training their staffs ensuring and aiming high on customer satisfaction.

2) Shanghai has 256 Starbucks, the most of any Chinese city. But the city with the most
Starbucks in the world is Seoul. The South Korean capital has 284 locations, seven
more locations than New York Citys 277.
Seven of the 25 most Starbucks-filled cities are outside of North America. Twelve are
outside of the US.

There are 210 locations in New York Citys borough of Manhattan, slightly more than
six per square mile. Thats one store per 14,762 people in Manhattans 3.1-millionperson daytime population. Of those, 91 branches are in Midtown Manhattan.
Why is there such an abundance of Starbucks stores placed right next to each other?
To reduce the lines and the waiting time for the customer.
Starbucks said in a statement that it takes a thoughtful and strategic approach when
choosing store locations, carefully considering many factors including community
demand. They are always looking for great locations to both better meet the needs of
their current customers and to reach new ones.
Although it goes against traditional thinking in business to place to stores near each
other, Starbucks has an advantage: it does not franchise its stores to local owners.
Starbucks studies an area before placing a store and bases its decision on demand,
traffic, and parking, and these factors might lead to the belief that the more stores, the
better.

Last year, 588 Starbucks locations opened in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
In its 2013 annual report, the company says it looks forward to establishing China as its
largest market outside of the US. Though the stores have the same characteristics as in
US, China being a culture oriented and having negative reactions towards coffee, they
had to place their stores in more exposed areas such as Beijing, where local people
would have being exposed to foreign elements compared to suburbs. As China opens

up its economy, Starbucks strategically tries to expand its chain to suburbs as well.
Starbucks also noted in the filing that its growth company-wide increasingly depends
on operations located outside of the Western Hemisphere.

In the UK where tea has been the hot beverage of choice for centuries, Starbucks is
entrenched. Britain has 784 Starbucks locations. Almost all of them87.6%are in
England. London has 26% of Great Britains Starbucks, with 202 cafes.
France only has 97 locations (one more than Hong Kong), with 62 of them in Paris. In
Italy, there are zero.

3). Unique retail store

The idea behind the Starbuckss stores layouts was to recreate the experience in the
espresso bars in Italy. They believe a coffeehouse should be a welcoming, inviting and
familiar place for people to connect, so they design their stores to reflect the unique
character of the neighborhoods they serve. We are also interested in the way design
can connect us all to sustainable building practices and provoke thoughtful questions
and engagement with the built environment. To reduce energy and water consumption,
they incorporate reused and recycled materials wherever possible and often use locally
inspired design details and materials in their stores.
4). Starbucks Store Design Around The World
Washington - Made using four reclaimed shipping containers, the design is as eco-friendly as it is
innovative and, quite frankly, just plain cool-looking. Starbucks representative Alan Hilowitz
explained, "Our designers were inspired to create this store both as a result of the shipyard that can
be seen out the back windows of our headquarters in South Seattle, as well as a desire to recycle
the same kind of shipping containers that transport our coffees and teas around the world."

Amsterdam - Located in a former bank, the 4,500-square-foot subterranean concept store is

apparently a "glimpse into Starbucks' vision of the future." And with everything from floating
communal seating and local design touches (think Delft tiles, bike-inspired decor) to an on-site
bakery and something called the "Slow Coffee Theatre," the future definitely looks different.
Dubai - Talk about a mall Starbucks outlet unlike any other. Located inside Dubai's extravagantly
decorated Ibn Battuta Mall -- allegedly the world's largest themed shopping mall -- this Starbucks
location benefits from some pretty stunning surrounding design. Namely, a gorgeous blue-andyellow, mosaic-tiled domed ceiling and a showpiece of a chandelier.

A stealth Starbucks is a Starbucks coffeehouse which does not advertise the Starbucks brand.
These stores are operated in Metropolitan areas to do market research on how customers react to
experiments in coffee service and coffeehouse design.
