SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS
A. Over-all Description of the Barangay
1. History of Barangay Dancalan
Before, Kaigangan was just a sitio of Bobon I the
province of Northern Samar. There are few residents of the
area which has surrounded with coconut trees, guavas, and
other fruit trees. A resident name Pio Merida, was fond of
planting rice, brought a seed of a certain tree called
Dangkalan Tree which he planted along the shoreline of the
sitio.
After several years, the population of the sitio went
bigger and bigger, enough to put up a community. Some
political minded persons decided to make a barangay out
of the sitio, so Sitio Kaigangan turns into Barangay
Kaigangan. The first chairman of the barangay is a woman
named Maria Planta.
The second Barangay Captain was Agripino Gremio.
He initialled to change the name of the barangay. He called
up the residents and decided to name the barangay after
the name Dangkalan Tree, which was known to be found
only in this barangay. So, Barangay Kaigangan was turned
to Barangay Dangkalan, which later became Barangay
Dancalan in its revised spelling.
Barnagy was led by different barangay captains:
Proceso Paredes, Anastacio Balido, Anita Paredes, and Reny
Celespara, respectively. The present Barangay Chairman is
Cesar O. Sanchez who was elected October 30, 2008 with
