Internship Participant Student Agreement

The success of an internship partnership depends on YOU, the student, and your cooperation in
maintaining the academic requirements for internship eligibility as well as complying with the program
requirements.
To be provisionally allowed to participate in the internship process students must be full-time students in
CLEAR academic standing with a minimum CGPA of 2.67 (B-) after second year. Only students who are
eligible for full-time registration at the time they apply for the internship program and at the time they
expect to start their internship are eligible for access to the Internship Program. Students are formally
enrolled by the Department in a work term once they have secured an internship position. Students should
refer to the Internship website for general admission requirements.
By accepting this Agreement and with the assistance of the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering you agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.

Academic Requirements
___ Maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.67 (B-)
___ Complete ALL required 3rd year courses by the end of the winter semester.
Job search responsibilities
___Upon acceptance into the IIP program, I authorize the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering Program to release my academic transcripts and copies of my resumes to potential
employers.
__ The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is NOT a placement office and I understand
that I must compete for internship employment opportunities; employers make the final decision on who
they will hire.
___I must attend all interviews that I have been invited to.
___ I will contact the Internship Coordinator immediately after an interview if I do not want to accept an
internship position.
___I understand that once I accept a job offer (written or verbal) I will honour that acceptance as a
contractual agreement with the employer. I will not try to alter this agreement nor will I accept any other
job offers I may receive after accepting the first offer.

___I will contact the Internship Coordinator before accepting any job offer not extended by the
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
___I agree that upon securing an internship position through my own effort I will notify the Internship
Coordinator to ensure the position meets the Departments internship requirements.
___Once I have secured an internship position I will be removed from the list of available students and
will not accept further interviews or accept other internship offers.
___I understand that any student who accepts an internship offer will incur and will be required to remit
payment of the internship administration fee to the Student Fees Department of Ryerson University once
the department has enrolled me in WKT99A/B.
As a student accepting an internship work term, you agree to the following:
___I understand that while on an internship work term I am representing the Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering and Ryerson University, and I agree to conduct myself in a professional and
ethical manner in accordance with University regulations and policies and those set out by my employer.
Failure to do so may result in the termination of the work term, dismissal from the IIP program, and a Fail
work term (F - grade).
___I understand that the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering requires the successful
completion of an internship work term as agreed upon by the student and the industry partner. In addition
I must complete and submit the internship experience survey by the appointed deadline.
___I will accept a reasonable salary level offered by employers. I understand that the work terms are paid
employment and reflect the organizations salary scale and my level of training and experience.
___ Conform to the regulations and dress code of the organization in which my internship takes place.
___ Maintain confidentiality of organization in which my internship work term takes place.
___ Notify my immediate supervisor of planned absences before my internship work term takes place.
___ Notify the Internship Coordinator should any problems arise during the course of the internship.
__Should I provide misleading or false academic and personal information to the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering and/or prospective employers, I will be subject to the penalties outlined in the
Ryerson Student Code of Academic and Non-Academic Conduct.
__ I will return to Ryerson University upon completion of my internship work term to continue my
intended degree program.
___Finally, I agree that I will notify the department as to any change in circumstances that would affect
my ability to participate in the Internship process or complete an agreed upon internship work term.
