1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project
that appeared in Development Business, issue no.751 of 31st May 2009.
2. The United Republic of Tanzania has received a loan from the International
Development Association toward the cost of Science/Technology Higher
Education Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to
payments under the Contract for the supply of Laboratory equipment for the year
2009/2010.
3. The State University of Zanzibar now invites sealed bids from eligible and
qualified bidders for supply of Laboratory Equipment as described bellow:

4. Lot 4 - Spectrum Lamps Various

4. Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding (NCB)

procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD
Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries
as defined in the Guidelines.
5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from The State
University of Zanzibar and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given
below from 7.30 a.m to 3.30 p.m.

6. Qualifications requirements are provided in the Bidding Documents.

7. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested
bidders on the submission of a written Application to the address below and upon
payment of a non refundable fee 150,000.00 The method of payment will be by
banker’s Cheque or cash. The Bidding Documents will be sent by hand to the
address below.
8. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 1:30 pm on 24th May
2010. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids
will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend
in person at the address below at 2:00pm on 24th May 2010. All bids must be
accompanied by a Bid Security of 2 % of contract price.
