Christian views on marriage, love and sexuality are often strict despite the existence of many
denominations. In Christianity, love is used in describing close attachment that one Christian
should have for the other. Sex refers to a sexual intercourse between a woman and a man. Before
marriage Christians hold the view that people should have a non-sexual love.
Thus, Christians encourage each other to love one other in non-sexual ways. This is the kind of
love that Jesus who started Christianity had for his followers to an extent of giving his own life.
Christians hold the view that love before marriage should be without sexual intercourse.
In first John 4: 7-11, the Bible says, Dear friends, let us love one another for love comes from
God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does
not know God, because God is love, this is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one
and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God,
but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God
so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No-one has ever seen God; but if we love one
another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Thus, Christian view of love is that it comes from God because God himself is love. For one to
be a Christian, they must confess and show love for one another. Although Christians have never
seen God, they believe that only those who love one another know Him. A Christian cannot
claim to know God yet they do not love the other persons.
Marriage and sexuality are entwined in Christian views. In most Christian denominations, sexual
intercourse is considered a sin unless when it happens in the context of a marriage. This is
because the Christian view of marriage and sexuality is that the intention of God was that a
woman and man shall live together in a marriage after wedding via a church wedding and not
outside a marriage.
For instance, in first Corinthians 6: 18-19, the Bible says that human body is the temple of Holy
Spirit. It encourages Christians to avoid sexual immorality. Marriage in Christianity is viewed as
an expression of love between woman and man while sexual intercourse binds the married
couple together as one flesh and soul.
