PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POS):


Mechanical Engineering Graduates of the Kumaraguru College of Technology will have the ability to:
1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering principles
2. Identify, formulate, and solve problems using mechanical engineering principles, interpret
and make inferences from the resulting data
3. Design and construct a mechanical system, component, or process to meet the desired
needs, within the realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political,
ethical, health and safety, and sustainability.
4. Design and conduct experiments, as well as to organize, and analyze mechanical
engineering related problems
5. Use the techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for mechanical engineering
practice
6. Solve professional, legal and ethical issues and responsibilities pertaining to mechanical
engineering
7. Utilize the mechanical knowledge in a global, economic, environmental, and societal
context
8. Sort out contemporary issues in the field of mechanical engineering
9. Function as effective member in multidisciplinary and diverse teams
10. Communicate effectively and present technical information in oral and written format
11. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management and apply
these to manage projects effectively
12. Recognize the need for an ability to engage in lifelong learning

COURSE OUTCOMES:
After successful completion of this course, the student would be able to:
CO-1 Apply the concepts of TQM to domain specific situations and interpret the contributions of
quality gurus.
CO-2 Apply the principles of TQM to real life situations.
CO-3 Apply the use of statistical process control along with the tools of quality for enhancing
quality.
CO-4 Apply the use of TQM tools for enhancing quality.
CO-5 Understand the use of elements, documentation and auditing procedures of quality systems
in real life situations.
