The purpose of this assignment is to:

environment sector.
Task 1
Scenario:
Management principles are important to all industries including construction and building
industry. You are requested to study the different management principles and apply them to your
job or project management. Assume that you are the Management trainee of a construction
company & was asked to study the management principles and make suggestions.
Task 1.1 (P1.1)
Explain the principles of management used in the construction and built environment sector. You can
also requested to study minimum five processes related to forecasting, planning, organizing, motivating,
controlling, coordinating, communicating or other functions and elaborate how you can apply them to
your daily work or to the building service or construction industry.
Task 1.2 (P1.2)
Explain the influence of human resources management on the performance of individuals and teams.
You are requested to study the motivation theories, leadership styles, individual and team behavior, etc.

Scenario:
There are different organizational structures, activities and approaches used for different
construction and building companies. They varies depends on size and nature of the companies.

Discuss the structure and activities of the construction and built environment sector. You are requested
to study the Structures and activities in minimum one building service or building or construction
company.
Task 2.2 (P2.2)
Evaluate the organisational structures and approaches used in the construction and built environment
sector. Different types of organisational structures (functional, divisional, matrix, etc.) should be studied
and one practical example of an organisational structure should be given.

Project managers and engineers are the key persons involved in the management of project
planning, resource allocation, cost management analysis and quality control.

three typical planning practices which you found useful in your field or your company should be should
be elaborated.

Explain how procurement scheduling and control are managed in industry.

Explain how quality control and risk management are managed. Typical examples of how quality
control and risk management measures can be applied in industry should be given.

Scenario:
Selection of procurement methods are one of the important activities in management of the
projects. Every project has its characteristics and will need a particular type of procurement
method, which can ensure the quality requirement in terms of budget, time and performance.
Project engineers and managers are required to understand the characteristics of each different
procurement methods in the above selection process to complete the project with success.
