DO BABIES AND

CHILDREN
GO TO
HEAVEN?
Have you or someone you know lost a baby or small child to
miscarriage, stillbirth, or death? How can we be sure that
our precious little ones who've died are enjoying the
presence of God in heaven? We must not rely on human
wisdom or sentiment for a question so vital as this, but
only upon the inerrant word of God. Brother Scott
Mitchell of Grace Bible Church in Seguin, TX has
archived his message given at a funeral for "Baby
Grace," who passed into God's arms on the day she was
born. I encourage you to listen to it for your own peace
of mind about this important question and to pass the link
on to those you know who would benefit from it as well.
Here's the link to Are Infants Condemned? (mp3).

Brother Scott takes his listeners to various passages of the

Old Testament that reveal God's love and care for those who,
due to their youth or mental infirmity, are not able to
understand that they are sinners in need of redemption
through a saviour. He cites King David's declaration after his
baby son has died, "I shall go to him, but he shall not return to
me." (2 Samuel 12:23). Several other Old Testament
scriptures are also referenced that give assurance that God
does not hold these innocents accountable. Bro. Scott then
points to the fact that we are currently living in the
dispensation of the grace of God in which the whole world
has been reconciled to him by the cross and that God is "not
imputing their trespasses unto them." (2 Cor. 5:18-19).
Because infants, small children, and mentally deficient
persons are not capable of rejecting this reconciliation to God
through Jesus Christ our Saviour, they are automatically
"accepted in the beloved," who won this reconciliation for us
by his death, burial, and resurrection.

This is a great message to give to unbelievers who have

experienced the loss of a loved one who falls into these
categories as it will not only give comfort but will declare to
them the simple gospel of salvation: "Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts
16:31). Perhaps the tragedy that has happened to them will
fall out "unto the furtherance of the gospel." (Philippians
1:12).

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who
comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to
comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." (2 Cor. 1:3-
4).
