Question Number 1:

From the last practical, use the correlation to find out

the regression equation and comment the relation
between the dependent and independent variables.

Age and Height:

Correlation: 0.797764115
Level of Relationship: Moderate
As we know the regression line:
Y = a + b(X)
Where, a is the intercept and b is slope.
Following the last practical, we have data of age in column B
and height in column E. Now, to find out the regression
coefficient, we will follow the following steps.

OK

Once, we are done with this. Pop-up screen will be appeared. To

fill up, we will have to contain one dependent variable i.e Y and
one independent variable i.e X.
By going the two variable we have,
Age = Independent Variable (X)
Height = Dependent Variable (Y)

60 | P a g e

By this, we will obtain the following result.

Following are important for analysis:

Multiple R Which shows our regression
Intercept Which we are assigned as a in our regression
equation.
61 | P a g e

Age The other coefficient, which has been assigned as b

in our equation.
Significance Which shows that regression we applied in
significant or not. Since, Its less than 0.05, hence significant.
Now, our regression line is,
Y (Height) = 3.9071 + 0.04954 (Age)

Comment : We can conclude that with one year increase in

our age there is increase of 0.049 Ft in our height.

Income and Expense:

Correlation: 0.97182
Level of Relationship: Strong
As we know the regression line:
Y = a + b(X)
Where, a is the intercept and b is slope.
Following the last practical, we have data of Income in column I
and Expense in column Q. Now, to find out the regression
coefficient, we will follow the following steps.

62 | P a g e

By going the two variable we have,

Income = Independent Variable (X)
Expense = Dependent Variable (Y)

By this, we will obtain the following result.

Following are important for analysis:

Multiple R Which shows our regression
Intercept Which we are assigned as a in our regression
equation.
63 | P a g e

Salary The other coefficient, which has been assigned as

b in our equation.
Significance Which shows that regression we applied in
significant or not. Since, Its less than 0.05, hence significant.
Now, our regression line is,
Y (Expense) = 144.2354 + 0.250(Income)

Comment : We can conclude that with one 1000 Rs increase in

our income there is increase of 250 Rs in our expense.

Temperature and Ice Cream Sale:

Correlation: 0.0.997
Level of Relationship: Strong
As we know the regression line:
Y = a + b(X)
Where, a is the intercept and b is slope.
Following the last practical, we have data of Temperature in
column N and Price of Ice Cream in column N. Now, to find out
the regression coefficient, we will follow the following steps.

64 | P a g e

By going the two variable we have,

Temperature = Independent Variable (X)
Price of Ice cream = Dependent Variable (Y)

By this, we will obtain the following result.

Following are important for analysis:

65 | P a g e

Multiple R Which shows our regression

Intercept Which we are assigned as a in our regression
equation.
Temperature The other coefficient, which has been
assigned as b in our equation.
Significance Which shows that regression we applied in
significant or not. Since, Its less than 0.05, hence significant.
Now, our regression line is,
Y (Price of Ice Cream) = 5.3933 + 9.77085
(Temperature)

Comment : We can conclude that with one centigrade

increase in temperature will increase 9.77 Rs the price of Ice
Cream.

Multiple Regression:
The equation of multiple regression would be:
Y = a + b1X1 + b2X2 + b3X3 + . . .
Where, Y is the dependent Variable
Xi are the independent Variable with i = 1,2,3 . .
By following last practical, let the dependent variable is Height.
Corresponding to the dependent variable, we can take
independent variable Age, Height and Glass of Water per day.
We will have to find the regression coefficients with respect the
height as we have found earlier. Will find b1, b2, and b3 one by
one.
b1 = 0.049 = Which is the slope of between the dependent
variable Y (Height) and Independent Variable (Age)
b2 = 0.03 = Which is the slope of between the dependent variable
Y (Height) and Independent Variable (Weight)
66 | P a g e

b2 = 0.45 = Which is the slope of between the dependent variable

Y (Height) and Independent Variable (Water per day)
Hence, the regression line would be:
Y (Height) = 3.56667 + 0.049 (Age) + 0.03 (Weight) + 0.45
(Water per day)

Comment:
We can conclude that:

One year increase in our age there is increase of 0.049 Ft in

our height.
One KG increase in our weight there is increase of 0.03 Ft in
our height.
One glass per day will increase our height 0.45 Fit.
Hence, all the three independent variables have increasing
relationship with Height. With increase of age, weight and glass of
water per day will produce increasing effect in our height. While,
glass of water per day has significantly more effect on height.
