Overview
TriggerFish 2.0 and TriggerFish Server 3.0 are major releases addressing Windows 7/8 compatibility
issues, software rebranding, code consolidation and code signing.
1.1
Windows Compatibility
Issues with user access rights which cause problems with server client connections have been
rectified. The location of the database items for server and client applications has been moved to
the Program Data folder (Application Data folder in Win XP). The changes are backward compatible
with Windows XP although some specific user operations required for correct operation.
1.2
Software Rebranding
The Hydra server system has been modified and rebranded as Triggerfish Server for the server
application. The Hydra Proxy (Client) process has been rebranded as Triggerfish Client Connection. As
in earlier versions, the server application is a separate installer package and the client application is
installed with the main TriggerFish installer. There are several changes to the way these systems are
installed, configured and monitored.
The software has been comprehensively rebranded to reflect the InProspect company name and
there are changes to the names and locations of installation and data folders.
1.3
Code Consolidation
The Windecoder process has been incorporated into the main TriggerFish code and is installed with
TriggerFish in the same installer package. It is now provided as a servlet under the control of the
Triggerfish Services (Servlet Manager) application and is configured via the System Editor
application.
1.4
Code Signing
A code signing certificate verifies the code is genuine with Microsoft Corp. and is expected to
prevent problems with security features in current and future versions of Windows.
2.
Triggerfish Installation
Prerequisites:Ensure that the Windows system user installing the software has admin rights to the computer and
that there is an active network adaptor available on the computer. Turn off any firewalls.
Because of changes to the database folder location, it is important that surveys and vessel
configurations are backed up prior to upgrading to TF2.0 and TFSvr 3.0. (See 4.
Transferring Survey Configuration.)

The Triggerfish Client Connection Manager Icon will now appear in the system tray.
The Client Connection Manager (TFishProxyManager.exe) process should not be confused with the
client connection process itself (TFishProxyServer.exe). The connection manager process only
provides configuration and control for the client connection application. The Client Connection
Manager is started automatically from the Windows Startup folder and can be started manually
from that menu location also if the connection manager is stopped for any reason.
3.
Prerequisites:Ensure that the Windows system user installing the software has admin rights to the computer and
that there is an active network adaptor available on the computer. Turn off any firewalls. Only one
server should be running on the TriggerFish network.
Because of changes to the database folder location, it is important that surveys and vessel
configurations are backed up prior to upgrading to TF2.0 and TFSvr 3.0. (See 5.
Transferring Survey Configuration.)

The Triggerfish Server Manager Icon will now appear in the system tray.
The Server Manager (TFishServerManager.exe) process should not be confused with the server
process itself (TFishServer.exe). The manager process only provides configuration and control for the
server application. The Triggerfish Server Manager is started automatically from the Windows
Startup folder and can be started manually from that menu location also if the Server Manager is
stopped for any reason.

4.
For the first time upgrade from the TF1.7 to TF2.0, the survey configuration should be transferred
from the existing Hydra database to the new TriggerFish Server database. It is important to do this
immediately after installing the TF2.0 and TFSvr 3.0 for the first time.
This procedure will only be fully successful if the same configuration settings are to be
carried forward from the original TF1.7 installation; i.e. username, domain and network.
The existing Hydra database in C:\Hydra does not have to be deleted. It is recommended
that the C:\Hydra folder contents are allowed to remain on the system until the upgrade has been
successfully completed. Thereafter, the folder C:\Hydra and subfolders can be archived and removed
from the system. It is also advisable to back-up surveys using the Survey Editor Backup feature and
export vessel configuration to XML file.
4.1
The contents of the TF1.7 database can be transferred to the TF2.0 Server databases by copying all
folders and .hyd files from the Hydra Server cache location (usually C:\Hyrda)

Windecoder
The Windecoder process now resides as a TriggerFish Servlet and is started from the System Editor
as below.
The decoder is then configured in the System Editor as in previous TFish version.
