COOLING TOWER PUMP AND FAN THE

INTELLIGENT WAY
DESCRIPTION
Cooling towers are usually not controlled according to load.
They are often operated with both shower nozzles and fans running at full capacity meaning
energy waste due to not adapting to the specific load.
With Grundfos iSOLUTIONS the pump is controlled by constant discharge temperature.
With Grundfos iSOLUTIONS the fan is controlled by the constant temperature of the water.
The pump and fan only run if necessary which therefore saves energy.

BENEFITS
Speed control of the pumps according to the constant discharge temperature reduces
power consumption significantly
Speed control of the fan motor according to load saves energy and reduces the need for
cleaning and maintenance of the tower
Depending on load and ambient temperature, the capacity and thereby also the energy
consumption can be reduced according to load
Depending on load and ambient temperature, the fan can be stopped completely, if the
natural airflow and evaporation is sufficient to keep the media temperature low

CIRCULATOR WITH CHILLER UNIT THE

INTELLIGENT WAY
DESCRIPTION
Chillers are often operated with much too large a flow through the primary side.
This means using too much power to circulate the water, as well as only a small part of the
condenser side.
The intelligent control principle of Grundfos iSOLUTIONS keeps constant discharge
temperature out of the primary side of the heat exchanger.
Therefore constant temperature is kept in the condensing side of the chiller - creating
optimal operational conditions.
BENEFITS
By reducing the flow through the primary side of the chiller we can utilise the full surface
of the chiller, meaning the active area will be close to the full length
Power consumption and flow are considerably reduced

CHILLER SECONDARY SIDE THE

INTELLIGENT WAY
DESCRIPTION
Chillers are often operated with much too large a flow through the secondary side.
This means using too much power to circulate the water, as well as only a small part of the
evaporator side.
The intelligent control principle of Grundfos iSOLUTIONS keeps constant discharge
temperature out of the secondary side of the chiller.

Therefore constant temperature is kept in the evaporating side of the chiller - creating
optimal operational conditions.
BENEFITS
By reducing the flow through the secondary side of the chiller we can utilise the full
surface of the chiller, meaning the active area will be close to the full length
Power consumption and flow are considerably reduced

MAIN CIRCULATOR SYSTEM THE

INTELLIGENT WAY
DESCRIPTION
The control principle keeps constant differential pressure on the external supply lines.
The main circulating system is equipped with speed-controlled pumps in connection with a
differential pressure sensor. This sensor is placed at the point in the system where a
minimum differential pressure must be secured. This means optimal performance in the
tertiary cooling loops.
BENEFITS
By increased flow, the necessary differential pressure is delivered to compensate for pipe
losses
For larger cooling systems, the main circulators can operate at relatively low pressure, and
then each string has dedicated small pumps locally
Reduction in the overall energy consumption
Each machine operates with optimum temperature, which also makes the individual
machines independent of the total load on the cooling system - independent of available
pressure
Automatically adapts to load on tertiary cooling loops
