ICC announced the team of the tournament for T20 World Cup India 2016.

The team
including 12th man contained four players from England, two players each from India
and the West Indies, and one each from Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand and
South Africa. Mustafizur Rahman selected as 12th man for the squad.
Due to the professional life, I was not able to watch all the matches of the
tournament. Still I have tried to keep myself updated regarding all the matches
through newspaper and other Medias. Few observing issues for me throughout the
tournament were which players played well, how Bangladesh played especially how
Mustafizur played. Though Mustafizur played only three matches, no one played
better than him throughout the tournament.
There is no doubt about the selection of Virat Kohli and he is also captain of the
team but question arises when you see Ashis Nehra in the best squad of
tournament.
The team was chosen by a select group of former cricket stars and highly respected
commentators. The selection panel consisted of: Geoff Allardice (ICC General
Manager Cricket, Chairman); Ian Bishop (former West Indies fast bowler); Nasser
Hussain (former England captain); Mel Jones (former Australia womens batter);
Sanjay Manjrekar (former India batsman); Lisa Sthalekar (former Australia womens
all-rounder). There is no doubt that my cricket knowledge is not good as those
selectors but I did not know earlier that my cricket knowledge is that much poor. In
later, I will try to show comparative performance of Mustafizur and Ashis Nehra in
the tournament. You better judge my knowledge on cricket.
1. Nehra played 5 matches whereas Mustafizur played 3 matches.
2. Nehra got 5 wickets in 5 matches by 17 0ver whereas Mustafizur got 9
wickets in 3 matches by 12 over.
3. Nehra gave 113 runs and took 5 wickets whereas Mustafizur gave 86 runs
and took 9 wickets.
4. Nehra gave 22.40 runs per wicket whereas Mustafizur gave 9.55 per wicket.

5. Nehras best bowling in the tournament 1/20 whereas Mustafizur best in the
tournament 5/22 which is also best for the tournament.
6. Mustafizur and Nehra both played against same team in the group stage.
Nehra got 1 wicket against New Zealand whereas Mustafizur got 5 wickets;
Nehra 1 against Australia and Mustafizur 2 (People wont forget how
Mustafizur bowled Smith); Nehra took Soumaya and Mustafizur took Rohit
Sharma and Jadeja when they meet each other.
After making a comparison match by match what I found Mustafizur performance is
far better than Nehras performance in the tournament.
Yes, Nehra is in better position if you only consider economy rate. Mustafizur gave
7.15 runs per over and Nehra gave 5.94 runs per over. You see the difference is not
that much high even Mustafizur economy is better than standard economy rate in
T20.
Based on performance, Mustafizur ranked 7th and Nehra ranked 22nd at the
tournament top bowling list. You will find only Willey (as a fast bowler) who is ahead
from Mustafizur in that list. Willey is left hand fast bowler. He took 10 wickets in 6
matches. Willies best bowling figure 3/20; average 15.90 and economy rate 7.57.
He also can bat if team required. He got the chance for batting in 3 matches and
scored 41 runs. He scored 0 against South Africa which means his runs came from
only two matches. May be because of his all rounder performance he got the chance
in the team but Mustafizur did not get the chance in the main squad.
You see even Willey is ahead of Nehra in terms of total wicket, best bowling figure
and average run. ICC selected Nehra for the best team of the tournament only
because he is ahead in terms of economy rate. I did not know earlier that economy
rate is enough to be selected for the best team of the tournament. How
ridiculous!!!!
