VI SEMESTER
ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENTS & INSTRUMENTATION
(Effective from the admitted batch 200708)

Time: 3 Hours
Max.Marks: 60
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Instructions: Each Unit carries 12 marks.
Answer all units choosing one question from each unit.
All parts of the unit must be answered in one place only.
Figures in the right hand margin indicate marks allotted.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UNIT-I
1. a) Three resistors have the following ratings:
R 1 = 37 5%, R 2 = 75 5% and R 3 = 50 5%.
Determine the magnitude and limiting error in ohm and in percent
of the resistance of these resistances connected in series
b) What are IEEE standards? How do these standards differ from
those maintained by National Standard Laboratories

2. a) Two quantities x 1 and x 2 have limiting errors of x 1 and x 2
respectively. Derive the expression for relative limiting error
in x when
i) x = x 1 +x 2 ii) x = x 1 -x 2 iii) x = x 1 x 2 iv) x = x 1 |x 2
v) x = x1n x1m
