As a college student in the early 1980's, I discovered my passion for technology.

Wayne State University

had one of the first PCs in existence and I was determined to learn everything possible about how it worked.
Fueled by a powerful sense of self-reliance, I completed my degree in Business Administration/Computer
Science, which sparked a successful career selling financial software to government agencies and large
corporations. At the time, my role was largely educational, as the software industry was in its infancy. For
seven years, I earned an excellent living (and exceeded several sales records) by helping people take
advantage of the powerful benefits of technology.
Despite my financial success, I yearned for more personal fulfillment from my career. Throughout college, I
worked in several hospital positions, including front desk operations, patient transport, transcription, billing
and systems operations. In every location, I noted a chronic need for a fast, reliable radiological
transcription service. In 1996, I formed Lightning Fast Scrips, which provides medical transcription services
to 38 radiologists throughout the Atlanta area. Combining my talent for sales and my knowledge of health
care administration, my business has enjoyed explosive growth. In less than ten years, Lightning Fast
Scrips grew from a tiny one person firm to employ 18 employees and generate $23 million in annual sales.
As the owner of the company, I manage the accounting, marketing, advertising, customer service and
human resource functions. Many days, I transcribe radiology reports alongside my employees. After 8
years, my business has earned a reputation for providing fast, honest and reliable service in the health care
community. Yet recent trends in the industry suggest that our growth may be limited by my lack of formal
business training. My largest competitors are large health care conglomerates with state-of-the-art expertise
in marketing and advertising. By competing on price, they have become formidable opponents to my
hometown, personalized approach. I want Lightning Fast Scripts to be able to compete in this market, not
just in 2006, but in 2116 and beyond.
An MBA from Chicago will provide the nuts-and-bolts expertise in all aspects of growing a business, from
increasing my sales to projecting my income for a new revenue stream. With formal training in strategic
planning, I can realistically evaluate alternative aspects for growth, such as franchising my concept or
offering my services to other medical specialists. Chicago has an enviable reputation of attracting older,
more seasoned students than other highly competitive MBA programs. I am eager to tap into their collective
expertise to formulate my future plans.
Ultimately, my long-term goal is to develop my business in as healthy a manner as possible. As an
employer, I hold the future of many families in the palm of my hand. I also have a vested interest in creating
new jobs and doing my part to expand the economy. With an MBA from Chicago, I will learn more efficient
ways to deliver my services in an increasingly competitive market. In turn, I have numerous strengths to
offer your program. My entrepreneurial success, intellectual curiosity and health care experience will
contribute to the diversity of the class and ultimately to my success as a student. After a lifetime of
preparation, I am ready to embrace everything that a Chicago MBA has to offer.

As one of the few top universities to offer a dual JD / MBA program, Chicago acknowledges the
need to provide comprehensive training to candidates with career aspirations in financial law. The benefits
to the students are immeasurable. While I pursue my coursework in torts and contracts, I can compete for
an internship at the IMF or Chicago Board of Trade. Upon graduation, I will be conversant in all aspects of
financial management and forensic accounting, and will be qualified to investigate cases of investor fraud,
improper accounting and SEC violations. Exposure to a government agency at this stage of my life will
provide a solid foundation for my eventual career.

As a young, aspiring accounting student from the United Arab Emirates, I am interested in
studying at the XXXX School of Economics
because I believe that an MSc in Accounting and Finance from XXXX will help me to attain my
goal of making a significant
contribution to the financial sector in my country. Sheikh Zayed, the highly revered founder and
long-time leader of the Emirates, once
said: The prosperity that we have witnessed has taught us to build our country with education
and knowledge and nurture generations
of educated men and women. Despite his passing, the founding father of our nation continues to
have a strong influence upon our
country because he instilled within all Emirates a life philosophy of high achievement and an
uncompromising quest for excellence. I

would count it a great privilege to study in the XXXX School of Economics because its reputation
of academic rigor and professional
success assures me that I will receive the highest quality education possible, delivered by highly
respected professors in the field.
The United Arab Emirates is a country that has witnessed expansive economic advancement over
the past 30 years, undergoing
tremendous development as it evolved from small desert villages into a flourishing, cosmopolitan
modern state. Sustained growth,
however, requires the knowledge and skills of true professionals; people who are determined to
pursue deeper theoretical insight while
consistently honing practical administrative tools that will contribute to their nations welfare. As
a result of my intellectual abilities and
academic achievements, I believe that in order to realize my full potential and make the most
effective contribution to my society, it is
necessary for me to pursue graduate study, first by attaining a Masters degree and eventually
the Doctorate.
After graduating at the top of my class from the International School of XXXX, considered the
finest high school in the UAE, I
enrolled in XXXX University. Through perseverance and hard work, I have been on the Honors List
nearly every semester and in 2007
was presented with an Academic Excellence Award by the College of Business Administration in
recognition of outstanding academic
achievement. My current cumulative GPA is 3.95 and I plan to graduate in May 2008 with my
undergraduate degree in Business
Administration and Accounting.
Yet the strongest single aspect of my candidacy for you program is that I have been concurrently
enrolled as a full-time undergraduate
student completing another undergraduate degree in Geography in French, as a student at the
University Paris XXXX. This Frenchspeaking higher education institution boasts of attracting the best students from the Middle East
and other parts of the world. While
meeting the challenge of studying in French, I have managed to maintain a position within the
top one-percent of my class. During this
time, I have not only improved my language skills, but have also gained a deeper understanding
of global issues. The schools emphasis
on extensive essay writing has greatly enhanced my scholarly research and critical thinking skills.
In addition to being successful
academically in my studies at XXXX University and the University Paris XXXX, I have also
accepted leadership positions in a number
of extracurricular school activities. I was an active member of the organization committee
responsible for the Open Day 2005 at
XXXX University. As well as planning and organizing the entire event, I was responsible for
managing campus tours for visiting
parents and students as well as coordinating communication with a wide variety of people and
organizations. My broad range of skills
and interests is also evident in the fact that I received a Film School Certificate for my
participation in a Hollywood Film Institute
seminar. I have always shown myself to be highly dependable, punctual and efficient even when
working without supervision and
under pressure. I am able to work well with people from many walks of life and I am an ambitious,
very hard working person, who
constantly aspires to move towards higher challenges in order to continue to better myself
personally and professionally.

Statement of Purpose Accounting and Management

It is difficult to understate the importance of Accounting in companies and the business world as a whole. It is
because of my recognition of the importance of accounting that I have decided to seek further education and a career
in this field. After careful consideration, it has become clear to me that developing a successful career in accounting
in the modern business environment requires advanced training in accounting and related subjects. I am motivated to
study in your masters program in Accounting and Management by an awareness of the ever-changing reality of the
business environment and the need to upgrade my own expertise and professional abilities. I am a native of [country],
an Asian island with a trade-oriented economy that is increasingly focused exporting to markets in Europe and North
America. Many outstanding scholars from my country have studied abroad to hone their skills with foreign teachers
and classmates, and this has been instrumental to the progress of my countrys economy. I hope to follow suit,
broadening my international perspective, improving my language skills, and refining my knowledge of accounting.

I majored in the Department of Mathematics at National Good University, one of the top ten universities in all of
[country]. I chose this major due to my belief that math is the foundation of academic and professional development.
My department offered us comprehensive training in diverse fields such as computer science, mathematics and
social sciences. With my extensive foundation in mathematics, I am convinced that I can cope well with the demands
of your masters program. I also took elective management classes, including Management and Economics, while in
the university. My academic experiences impressed upon me the importance of accounting in the modern business
world, as well as the crucial role played by management in the ultimate direction and success of a company. With my
growing interest in the business world, my performance in the university steadily improved over my four years of
study. As my interest in these areas developed, it became clear that the pursuit of postgraduate education in these
areas, ideally in the USA, is the logical next step in my overall development.

In addition to my work in the classroom, I was an active member of campus. I have joined several organizations since
senior high school, in which I acquired a unique blend of experiences. Perhaps the most memorable and valuable of
all was my participation in the Department of Mathematics Student Association. I was in the activity section, which
organized many activities for the whole Department. I organized the Departments large-scale end-of-year party,
planning details of the event with my partners and ensuring steady progress toward our goals. During the process of
conducting these tasks, conflicts inevitably arose. I worked hard, however, to coordinate with other members of the
group and developed contingency plans to address problems as they arose. This experience proved to be as
rewarding as it was challenging, and I expect that the leadership experience I acquired will be very useful when
pursuing further studies.

Given the importance of globalization in the management and development of companies, an education that does not
fully address the international and multicultural realities of the modern business world is incomplete. I have therefore
decided to pursue my degree overseas, as the expertise and facilities offered in my countrys educational institutions
are limited and thus unable to match the diversity and multiculturalism available in the US. I look forward to meeting
and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. The ability to listen and learn from others is crucial for
professionals in all industries. Your university, with its mix of people from different backgrounds, is a true microcosm
of the international business world and thus the ideal place in which to pursue a business-based education.

As the above shows, I am highly motivated and ambitious in pursuing my masters degree in the US. By studying in
your masters program, I hope to extend my vision and improve my English proficiency. After completion of your
masters program, I plan to return to [my country] and work for one of the leading multinational accounting/finance
firms as an accounting professional capable of dealing with a broad range of people, companies, and financial
situations. Your program in Accounting and Management will enable me to achieve the goals I have set for myself. I
expect to have a long career in this field and benefit a wide range of companies. In this way, I hope to add to the
general development of my countrys economy and become a leading professional in my field.

Statement of Purpose - Accounting

In recent years, my native country of XXX has adapted to the trend of globalization and transformed from a low-tech
manufacturing base into a technology-based economy. Growing up in such a dynamic and quickly developing
economy has given me a strong interest in taking part in the business world of the future. With this longstanding
interest in business, I am very eager to begin engaging in advanced business studies. I believe that further study in
the UK is an important first step on the path to my career goals. I believe the UK is the ideal setting for refining my
expertise in Accounting and Management while also acquiring a broader, international viewpoint.

I majored in Accounting at Good University in [country], a school with a reputation for excellence in terms of its
business programs. Although the rigorous academic environment presented certain challenges, I achieved a great
deal and built a strong foundation of knowledge and experience. During my time at Good University, I developed my
analytical skills and learned to communicate with others effectively. I believe that my experience at this school has
prepared me well for the demands of studying in the UK. After graduating from GU, I continued my further studies in
Excellent Academys Language Training Center, where I have been honing my English skills in preparation for
studying in the UK.

I am currently studying in the Foundation programme at the University of England, where I have gained considerable
knowledge of fundamental business concepts. I have grown especially interested in the subject of Accounting, and I
hope to continue my education in the UK in this area. My time studying in the UK has thus far exceeded my
expectations. Every day I am here, I am inspired and motivated by the demanding and invigorating academic
environment, and I looking forward to pursuing masters level studies in such a setting.

I first developed an interest in studying in the UK when my family travelled to London when I was in high school. In
addition, I am attracted to the prestigious British education system, which produces global business leaders prepared
for future challenges. Growing up in [my country], where the effects of globalization and international business were
always apparent, I realised that it is important for me to possess strong English abilities in order to diversify my future
options and have a competitive advantage amongst my peers. Having lived in England for a period of time already, I
have begun to feel quite at home with the everyday life and culture, and it would be a true honour to continue my
education on to a higher level in this country.

In my view, acquiring knowledge of accounting and management will not only be extremely useful, but also personally
rewarding and enjoyable. It is a fascinating area of study and one that I will certainly be able to apply to my future
work. I am well-prepared to face the challenge of studying in your university, and I have the determination to realise
my goals and complete my studies successfully. Equipped with the specialist knowledge I will gain from your
universitys course, as well as the cross-cultural understanding that living in the UK provides me, I expect to be able
to progress smoothly into a career in the international business world when I graduate. As for my future plans, I hope
to acquire the expertise in business, and especially accounting, that will enable me to work as a professional in a
multinational company. I hope to develop the language skills, leadership and organizational abilities, cultural
understanding and professional expertise that will make me an effective and successful businessperson.

(....i really don't know how to start with the first paragraph....)
During the four years of my undergraduate study, I have taken numerous courses in
Accounting, Finance, and Business Management. This has exposed me to the
various aspects of the accounting field and prepared me to achieve my career
objectives.
In July 2007, I started my first job as a Financial Clerk in ABC Company. My activities
within this position included accounts receivable, accounts payable, bookkeeping,
and office's budget. Through this job, I applied my accounting theory to a real-world
environment, which has helped me broaden my horizon and give me courage to
continue pursuing further education in accounting field.
After one year of working as a financial clerk, I was employed by DEF Bank as a
Marketing Officer. This job required not only sufficient marketing background but
also analytic capacility. As a marketing officer who offered services for more than
ten local companies. I must know my customers well by means of examining
companies' financial reports and checking their business documents to ensure that
they had legal background and business relationships in order to prevent our bank
from fraud and money laudering. Furthermore, I must ensure that all my
performances were compliant with bank policies and procedures. In addition, I was
responsible for the branch's IT maintainance because of my proficient computer
skills. With this capacity, I got the chance to be familiar with a number of softwares
used to facilitate accounting procedures. The two years banking experience
provided me great wealth in my early career: the communication and negotiation
skills, the knowledge of gerneral accounting procedures, the hands-on experience in
risk analysis, especially, the real interest in the accounting field.

In August 2007, I resigned from DEF Bank and then participated in a cultural
exchange program in United States. The true personal reason is to utilize this
chance to improve my English and pursue my master's degree in United States.
Since arriving alone in U.S. in September 2007, I have been enjoying the
satisfaction of knowing that I can accept challenges, remain focused and achieve
what I set out to accomplish. While keeping my aims constantly in view, I took some
courses at Anne Arundel Community College and USDA Graduate School to enhance
my English and maths skills for the future education. Through my effort, I have
developed excellent communication skills with people of different cultural
backgrounds. I also got "A" grades in all my registered courses.
My long-term goal is to pursue a career as a CPA in a public accounting firm. For this
reason, I am seeking a professional accounting program that will further my
professional objectives and fulfill my educational requirements. I sincerely believe
that, my three years working experience in financial department, coupled with my
education in finance and my strong desire for professional growth in my interested
area, will enable me to successfully fulfil the Master of Science in Accounting
program.

As a female student from the Middle East, I believe that I have a great deal of cultural, social and academic experience
that will allow
me to fit in well and contribute to the international flavor of the XXXX School of Economics. I am well traveled, having
spent nearly
every summer vacation visiting places such as the United States, London, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Oman, Saudi Arabia,
Austria, Holland,
Switzerland, Belgium, and Milan. I am also trilingual. In addition to my native tongue, Arabic, and English, in which I am
fluent, I have
also reached a high level of proficiency in French since my interest was piqued from spending extended periods of time in
France. I
love to travel because I believe that it opens up ones eyes to the world, to its beauty and diversity. I thoroughly enjoy
discovering the
different ways of life of those who come from many different backgrounds. Another rreason why I am for applying to
XXXX is
because it is known for its high percentage of international student and the celebration of diversity that results. London is a
rich,
cosmopolitan city with so much going on that it will give me the opportunity to expose myself to different cultures, meet
new people
and actively participate in an environment ripe for the invaluable cultural exchange of ideas and ideologies.
I firmly believe that the right education opens up many doors for advancement in the field of ones choice. XXXXs focus
on researchled teaching will prepare me to work on the cutting edge of theory and practice in international accounting and finance.
Nowhere is
this more necessary than in the rapidly advancing economic context of the UAE.Ten years from now I would like to be in
a top

financial position with a financial consulting or accounting firm in my country. In the future, I can see myself working in
the
governmental sector and eventually starting my own international or financial consulting business. In line with my history
of academic
and personal excellence, I am looking forward to acquiring the highest quality graduate education possible so that I can be
an example
to others of the attainments and contribution to society that women in my field can make. Out of my sense of
responsibility and
gratitude towards my country, I plan to continue the legacy of Sheikh Zayed by always performing at my best and
demanding only the
best from my surroundings, promoting an atmosphere of professional excellence, ethical practice and continuous
innovation. I look
forward to the educational challenges that XXXX will demand of me, knowing that my success in the MSc in Accounting
and Finance
program is essential for becoming a successful professional in my field and advancing with further studies towards a PhD.

As my hometown of Shenzhen, China has blossomed these past thirty years into one of the greatest financial centers
of the world, I have

educated myself and developed into an excellent candidate for a Masters program in Accounting. Both of my
parents were university
professors, and my father was an accounting professor. As Shenzhen developed its incredible economy, my fathers
skills and experiences
led him to become Chief Financial Officer of a large multi-national company. No one has been a greater influence in
my life, my journey, nor
impressed upon me a greater import of accounting for todays society.

I have had the kinds of life experiences and developed the language abilities that will enable me to effectively interact
with people of many
different cultural backgrounds, especially since I speak Cantonese as well as Mandarin and English. I have traveled
throughout China, Tibet,
Indonesia, and six of Americas largest cities. As a qualified business person, it is very important for one to see the
world, to learn more
about our world, which is becoming smaller and smaller as we become more interconnected. I try to bridge cultural
gaps. Every year since I
arrived in the US, I have been actively involved in the Chinese Lantern Festival and International Dinner, the two
biggest international events in
my area. Last year, I assumed a leadership position for the Entertainment Committee for both events. My passion
for my work, my energy,
love of working with people of diverse backgrounds and facing challenges were channeled into this event, and made
it one of our best years
yet.

It is one thing to have dreams and another to realize them. I have been extremely fortunate to
study in China as well as the US and have
maintained an excellent GPA throughout my academic career, as well as earning the Deans
Distinguished Achievement Award every year
since I have been in the US. I am particularly proud of my Meritorious Scholar Award as it was
awarded by the Division of Business and
Economics. I play hard as well, and in China, I won First Prize for Singles and Doubles in a
womens tennis tournament for my University in
Shenzhen, though I have since traded in my racket to be a Special Event Coordinator for my local
Chinese Cultural Club.

Furthering myself through a Masters degree in Accountancy will aid me in not only gaining more
advanced knowledge in this field, and
passing the CPA exam, but also making me more marketable and competitive in todays society.
It is my desire to learn as much as possible
from prestigious professors in the best university setting possible, and interacting with some of
the most intelligent classmates in the US. As
an international student, I am excited about continuing to learn about Western culture, and
enriching my multicultural appreciation and
communication skills through interaction with other international students. While interning with
AIG Travel Guard one of the industriess

leading providers of travel insurance I came to especially appreciate how that education has no
end, not even with a Masters degree. What
changes is our ability to learn things more efficiently, and to enhance out ability to communicate
with different people. This is what is most
essential today, and where I long to advance in my professional capacity. Equally important for
my building a solid foundation as an
accountancy professional, is the continuing enhancement of my grasp of information technology.
My job as a computer lab assistant pushed
me to learn about computer and information systems, both of which are integral parts of todays
information-based society.
It is my dream to some day work for one of the Big Four accounting firms and take my valuable
professional experience to an international
level, working with companies in my homeland, ideally, a top American corporation located in
China. I am most keenly excited about the
prospect of helping to serve as a bridge between East and the West. Thank you so much for
considering my application to your esteemed
program

I am a young African man who immigrated to the United States from my native Kenya in 1996. I
now live in New Jersey and have earned a
B.S. in Computer Science and an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology. While benefiting
greatly from my education so far, I feel
strongly that I need additional training in order to pursue my long term goal of some day
managing hedge fund investments and advising high
net worth clients and institutes on their investment strategies.
I am attracted to the XXXX for both its location and its mission. I am a progressive cosmopolitan
man who has now seen Americas East
Coast and longs to experience the West. I appreciate diversity and multiple cultural celebrations
and I have the dream of someday going back
to Africa to help my people develop economically. Thus, I am especially attracted to the
progressive ethos of San Francisco and the emphasis
of Jesuit education on the importance of global perspectives and educating leaders who will be
able to fashion a more humane and just world.
I hope to some day again use my native Swahili in the struggle for economic development in
Africa and I look forward to sharing in the
financial analysis perspectives of people from all over the world who attend your program.

I am looking forward to obtaining both a Master of Science in Financial Analysis and the Chartered
Financial Analyst designation. I am
anticipating a very rigorous education in your program in the areas of quantitative financial
analysis and economics and I am especially
looking forward to learning how to apply the most current tools used by investment management
professionals today. My greatest passion in
life is to become part of the movement of financial analysis from an art to a science and to
master the complex analytical and quantitative
methods that are increasingly used in financial markets. I am applying to the Professional XXXX
Program because it is the best match with
my interests and extremely high level of motivation. I look forward to attending your program
because of its executive-style and the fact that
it provides a coordinated, sequential approach to the tools and knowledge that are necessary for
becoming a CFA.

I anticipate a long and productive life as life-long student of financial and quantitative analysis. I
feel strongly that the seven years of
professional experience that I now have working in the fields of finance and accounting further
strengthens my candidacy for your program.
For many years now, I have went to go to school full time and worked full time for different
companies in different roles such as general
ledger administration, budgeting and forecasting, financial modeling and analysis, project
implementation and management, month-end close,
financial statement preparation and analysis and revenue recognition and reporting. I have
learned to be an effective leader by acting as a
mentor for weaker members of my team and have continually improved my communication and
investigative skills. My analytical ability and
problem-solving skills are probably my greatest assets. I have learned how to be flexible and
adapt to ever changing corporate philosophies.
Now, however, thankfully, I am faced by the challenge of having become quite bored and I want
to push myself to new heights with the help
of your program. I am a competitor who is never satisfied with mediocrity. I demand of myself
nothing less than my very best effort at all
times. The greatest contribution that I might be able to make to society would be to apply my
quantitative and analytical skills to the
management of financial information, helping clients and organizations to solve business
problems. In time, I look forward to assuming
leadership roles in financial institutions helping non financial professionals gain greater insight
into how global financial markets actually work.

Although I have not yet had the opportunity to do much traveling, the fact that I lived in Kenya
for 18 years has helped to inspire me to a high
degree of fascination and concern with global issues. I feel that I have a good understanding of
the global economy, and I am very much
looking forward to enhancing my skills so that I can become an increasingly effective, efficient,
and productive participant in the
development of new patterns in the global economyalways with a special eye towards my
native Africa.
My current professional position, since September of 2006, is Senior Financial Analyst at McGrawHill Companies, a leading global
information services provider meeting worldwide needs in the financial services, education and
business information markets. I have learned
many new and exciting things about how to think globally at McGraw-Hill and it is my sincere
hope to be able to share some of these
experiences with other graduate students at XXXX in the near future. I especially look forward to
the way that your program draws upon the
cultural, intellectual, and economic resources of the San Francisco Bay Area. Your program is for
me ideal in its potential to enrich and
strengthen a common good through reasoned discourse in global financial analysis. I want to
thank you for your consideration of my application.
