everyone who’s helped us make it to our third year at Dragon*Con, a year
with the most excitement so far! We are the track for those of you who
like to read. More than that, we are the track for those of you who enjoy

Science
Mad scientists have a bad rap these days. We are stereotyped as being arrogant,
callous and kind of creepy, all of which is true, but we’re also accused of being
boring. As if! The guests and speakers of the Dragon*Con 2008 Science Track
are the folks who put the science in science fiction, baby! Since the word
‘science’ covers some pretty diverse subject matter,
we’ve put together a veritable plethora of intellectual
treats for giant throbbing brains everywhere.
If after all of that you still insist upon the stereotype,
well, there’s always the Evil Geniuses for a Better
Tomorrow Annual Recruitment Drive and Bake Sale.
So why not grab a body, yours or someone else’s,
living or dead drag it on down to our neck of the
woods and donate it to Science for a few hours. We
promise—we’ll take really good care of it. In fact,
we can proudly state that NONE of our attendees or
2007 Musical Tesla Coils guests have been maimed, blown up or otherwise
killed a lot as a result of attending Science Track
events, as far as we know.

Dragon*Con Cabaret
Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome to the new Dragon*Con Cabaret.
Come see the elaborate costumes and fun, eye-winking humor and class
reminiscent of the late 1800’s through the mid 1940’s in this vintage type
show. Big City Burlesque and Vaudeville will headline. There are also some
spots open for selected out of town performers. Contact Audrey at
stormyknight42@gmail.com for more information and to apply.
Big City Burlesque and Vaudeville Review
BCB&V is Atlanta’s original, all retro troupe since 2002. This unique
concept is the brainchild of creator and artistic director Kenton
McGhee, aka ‘King Rouge’, and has been painstakingly developed in
both style and content. This dream to reality has been to recapture
the sultry glamour and smoky magic of by-gone eras. From a
seductive fan dancer of the late 30’s to film noir femme fatales of
the 40’s, a bewitching belly dancer as well as comic heroines of all
yesteryear, BCB&V was the first to bring this concept of Old World
Big City Burlesque Vaudeville to the stage in Atlanta and today remains Atlanta’s
premier Burlesque and Vaudeville troupe.
Crossed Swords
Nicole Harsch and Mike Sakuta are the Crossed Swords. For over
20 years, their Crossed Swords Stage Combat Shows have been seen
Cemetery Surfers
across the continental U.S. and Canada at renaissance festivals and
science fiction conventions and, of course, previous Dragon*Cons. Recently,
they’ve been hired to swordfight in such interesting locations as Honolulu,
Hawaii; Blackpool, England; Paris, France; Berlin, Germany; and Moscow, Russia.
The duo can also be seen in a TBS documentary on Pirates, in an A&E episode
of The Unexplained, on the Larry Elmore cover paintings for two Dragonlance
books (The Reign of Istar and The Cataclysm), and on the “Cure Light Wounds”
card in the Spellfire game.
Be sure to check out their www.crossedswords.biz
website for updates and scheduling info.
Crüxshadows
From humble origins in a Northern Florida town, the
Crüxshadows have risen to become internationally
recognized as one of the most popular darkwave
bands of all time. Over the past decade, the
Crüxshadows tumultuous success among the Gothic,
EBM, new wave, and dark electronic genres has
Crossed Swords
earned them a massive and devoted following. With a
constant and ambitious release schedule (as well as a dizzying live engagement
schedule), the Crüxshadows have turned conventional wisdom on its ear and
maintained their status amongst the elite bands from the world of modern
alternative music.
With a blend of new wave, Gothic, and electronica, the Crüxshadows
unique, catchy songs have subsequently become staples of the darkwave,
EBM, and electro-alternative scene.
With over 11 CDs, a DVD, and more compilation appearances than you
can count, the Crüxshadows have made themselves synonymous with a
new breed of explosive electro-goth music. The Crüxshadows energy and
intensity onstage led them to be called “the best live band in Europe today”
by the host of Hamburg’s popular Crazy Clip Show, and their performances
have been aired regularly on German national television. If you have an
opportunity to see them live, you should not pass it up. Over their lengthy
history, the Crüxshadows have shared stages with a wide array of bands,
including notables such as The Cure, Bjork, Ladytron, Apoptygma Berzerk,
Placebo, the Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, VNV Nation, Mesh, Bad Crüxshadows
Religion, Clan of Xymox, Project Pitchfork, and many, many more.
Voltaire
Voltaire is often described as a modern day renaissance man. He is a
singer/performer, creator of comic books, animation and toys.
As a musician, he is a songwriter whose music can best be described
as a collection of murder ballads, tongue-in-cheek exercises in the
macabre, with just enough bawdy songs about Star Trek and Star
Wars to keep a Con audience rolling in the aisles. Many know him
for his song “Brains!” from the Cartoon Network show The Grim
Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Voltaire’s live shows, whether solo or
with his skeletal orchestra, are highly theatrical-full of stories and
Voltaire games. The theatrical quality of his performances is not surprising.

toys visit www.voltaire.net.

continue to the light of day.
For the last few years, we’ve also had an impromptu drum-circle form up
for several hours. In 2000 the drum-circle was made a formal part of the
schedule for Friday through Sunday night. This tradition will continue in
2008, so bring your doumbek or djembe (or your congas or your violin or 2007 Live Performance
your flute...) if you’ve got one.

CONVENTION SERVICES
Child Care
Dragon*Con will sponsor Child Care Services during our normal Dealers
Room hours:
Friday: 1:00 PM–7:00 PM
Saturday/Sunday: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Monday: 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
Child Care Services are provided at no additional charge for kids 18 months
and potty trained-6 years, if they’ve been registered at the normal adult rate.
Child Care Services are available on a first come, first serve basis with a limited
number of spaces available.
To use this service, simply register your child with the convention at normal
convention rates (a bargain, for up to 30 hours of supervised care). Either pre-
register your child through this web site or at the convention; sitters will not
collect any rate “by the hour” during scheduled hours.
We will be serving a mid-morning and afternoon snack, but you must pick up
your child for his/her mid-day meal. Anyone leaving a child in Dragon*Con
child care is required to have a working cell phone on them at all times.
Hospitality Suite/ConSuite
2007 Concourses
“Consuites” are a tradition of SF and fantasy conventions
throughout the United States. We’ll provide a lounge stocked with all sorts
of complimentary soft drinks, coffee, and munchies for all attendees to enjoy
when feeling a bit hungry. We have planned a Consuite with plenty of snacks
that will be open twenty-four hours a day throughout the convention (with a
few breaks for cleaning purposes).
Information Desk
The Information Desk is your one-stop center for getting all your questions
answered. We will have an information booth located in each of the three host
hotels. Their exact location will be available on the mini maps provided in
the Pocket Program at the show. The staff will be able to help you find where
everything is located and just about any other question or request you may
have. And if they don’t know the answer, they’ll send you directly to the person
who does or contact them by radio.
Information Booth
Ideally tournament judges will manage their time so that each game is finished
with fifteen minutes left in the session allowing everyone time to get to the
next game. Large tournaments in some of the gaming areas do not follow this
patter, and some games run over one and a half or two sessions which is usually
noted in the description area for that event. When you are looking at events
in the listings, you will see that events are typically referred to by their session
numbers and not the day or time.

game you just purchased or an old favorite that you can’t get any one
at home to play, bring it to open gaming and you are sure to find fun
and challenging opposition.
Settler’s of Catan
The Catan tournament at Dragon has grown into a whole con affair.
Can you take home the coveted Dragon*Con Plaque?
And Many More!
Board Gaming
New games are being added all the time. Please check the gaming
website for schedule updates. I look forward to seeing you at the show.
Board Gaming FAQ
VV What is Board Gaming? At Dragon*Con board gaming is a
catch all section including traditional box games as well as non-
collectible card games.
VV Does this include games like Monopoly and Clue? Mostly our
focus is on old school wargames and the newer German-style
games, as these tend to be what our fan base wants to play, but
we are open to all types of games providing we can find good,
knowledgeable judges.
VV So these games are complex with lots of rules? Complexity
varies from tactical games like Star Fleet Battles (whose rules
take up a 4” binder and turns take well over a hour each) to
simple card games like Flux (the only rule, “draw one, play one”
and usually lasting no more than fifteen minutes a game)
VV Do I need to know how to play before I can join in the fun?
No, the judges at Dragon*Con are specifically chosen for their
instructional abilities and would be happy to teach you as much
of the rules as you need to play in any of the non-tournament
games we offer. For tournaments, we do recommend a degree
of game knowledge as this allows all participants to have a fun
game experience.
VV Tournaments? So are there prizes? Most of our tournaments
offer prizes ranging from copies of the games to framed
certificates to show off to your friends
VV Sounds fun, where do I sign up? Once the gaming
registration site is up, you will be able to purchase the $5
board gaming ribbon as well as tickets for limited seating
tournaments.
VV I am interested in judging _________ . Contact us at
dragoncon@dragoncon.org listing the game you wish to run
and we will get back in contact with you to discuss.

In the World of Darkness, Vampires existed and have a society of their own
hidden from the eyes of humans. They move through the human population
taking what they need and controlling people without them realizing it.
They meet behind close doors and hold beautiful and horrible gatherings.
This weekend such a gathering shall be held—a social gathering where Kindred
of all ages will meet under a rough to discuss the
future of their kind. The Prince of the city has request
the Kindred to gather for an announcement. Rumors
fly through the air of a discovery, while others talk
about the chance of a new Prince being named. Come
see what the future holds in the World of Darkness.
Requiem is a two night game expected to run on
Saturday and Sunday night of Dragon*Con 2008.
Changeling:
Since the first Lost returned from Arcadia, clawing
Tabletop Gaming
and cutting their way through the Thorns, they
have looked for ways to protect themselves from
the Gentry. One of the first and surest methods for doing so was the signing
of protective Contracts with the four Earth seasons which are unknown and
confusing to the Others. This was the first step in fighting back against the
True Fae.
To commemorate that fight, the Summer Court will be hosting a celebration
of the Losts’ return to their world with a grand tournament and ball. There
will be tests of skill both physical and mental with prizes given to the
winners.
Come help us rejoice in our freedom and remember what it takes to keep it.
This game is expected to run during the day on both Saturday and Sunday at
Dragon*Con 2008.
Mortal:
Mortals is a game of move through a world were the Cops are on the mobs
payroll, that the average neighbor hood is a bit more dangerous, and people
don’t just go for long walks at the night because there are things that go
bump in the night. Miniatures Gaming

Forest of Doors LARP at Dragon*Con 2008: The Hospitality of
Beasts
This story takes place in the tent of one of the former antagonists of the game
who is now an ally of the players. The crux of the game is similar to a murder
mystery game where the players will help deduce what has occurred. In
addition there will be numerous opportunities to explore the culture of what
is primarily and antagonistic portion of the setting. There will be many small
challenges such as riddles and some entertainment
and Forest of Doors is are currently negotiating for
possible music and/or dancing. The structure will be
oriented at giving new/potential players a taste of the
world and campaign setting.
-----------------------------------------
Forest of Doors is one of Atlanta’s newest fantasy
LARP dedicated to providing an entertaining and
innovative experience for all of its players. Regular
games are a full contact “boffer” LARP but this
event will be strictly non-combat for safety purpose.
Tabletop Gaming Players who are new to either LARPing or contact
LARPing are especially encouraged to join our event.
This event will also be an in continuity event during which regular players may
bring their characters and earn experience. Also people playing for the first
time may earn experience to bring back to the ongoing game. Our setting is
unique both for its innovative approach to magic but also because our fantasy
game takes its roots from C.S. Lewis and traditional folklore rather than the
J.R.R. Tolkien basis that other fantasy LARPs have been traditionally based.
The game emphasizes role-playing over combat and our environment is
friendly to new players. Pre-generated characters will be available but you
can also make any sort or character you wish. Costuming is encouraged for
this event but is not required.
Check out our website at www.forestofdoors.com for more information.
