Simply Sweet Event to Benefit

Milton Senior Center Flooring Fund

Inspira Wellness II Grand Opening

Celebration Slated for Saturday, May 14

A Simple Sweet benefit, presented by Dennis Delk & Family,

will be held at the Milton-Union Senior Center on Saturday, May 14,
beginning at 4:00 p.m. and concluding when food runs out.
The Delks menu will include Simply Sweet homemade ice
cream, wood-fired pizzas, hot dogs, pies and drinks.
All proceeds from the evening will help fund a new flooring project at the senior center. Current flooring was installed in 1987 and
desperately needs to be replaced. The Senior Center is a 501 (c) (3)
not-for-profit agency and any donations to this project can be used as
a tax deduction.

Mr. and Mrs. Marion (Pete) and Nancy (Trost) Cromes of Pleasant Hill will celebrate their 60th wedding
anniversary on May 19. The couple was united in marriage at the Nashville Congregational Christian Church in
West Milton.
Pete graduated from Piqua High School in 1953 and retired from Hobart Corp. (P.M.I.). Nancy graduated from
Newton High School in 1955, then retired from Dettmer Hospital and Sunrise Center for Adults.
They are the proud parents of Doug and Robin Cromes of Newnan, Georgia; Mike and Caroline Cromes of
Huntsville, Ohio; and Karen and Joe Donohue of Piqua. A family friend, Brenda Mattevi (Jody) of Kenton, is like
a daughter to the couple.
The Cromes also have 7 grandchildren: Meghan and Scott Weaver; Abbey and Patrick Cline; Zac, Nikki, Mitch
and Jenny Cromes, Tom Donahue and Samantha Mattevi. Great-grandchildren include Jackson and Adelyn Weaver,
Lilly, Peyton and Harper Cromes, and two more on the way.
The couple would like family and friends to join them at an informal gathering on Saturday, May 21, from 3:00

FrogWatch Program Offered at Area Reserve

The Miami County Park District will hold its FrogWatch program on Friday, May 20, 9 p.m., at Stillwater Prairie Reserve, 9750
St. Rt. 185, Covington.
Put on your citizen scientist hat and join a park district naturalist on a hike in search of local toads and frogs. Learn to identify the
different amphibians by their unique calls. Information gathered
will be added to the FrogWatch database and used to help develop
practical strategies for the conservation of these important species.
FrogWatch USA is a program of the U.S. Association of Zoos

It was a big weekend for the Godfreys

Friday, May 6, we attended Marie Ranks graduation from Sinclair College, held in UD
Arena. 1,000 students graduated from that once little college. A special note was honoring
the oldest student (89) and the youngest student (14). The only thing I could say is Wow!
On Saturday, May 7, we celebrated two college graduations, two birthdays, and Mothers
Day in advance. Everyone in our immediate family attended with the exception of Taylor,
Kyle, and Lainie. These include two grandchildren and one daughter in-law.
When the entire clan shows up we now have 24.
The special occasion was in honor of Gingers 70th birthday. I cant believe shes three
score and one decade. She used to say she was going to live a century, but Im sure shes
rethinking her prediction.

Each year, 795,000 Americans will suffer a stroke. Stroke occurs when
blood flow to the brain is blocked due to a clot or the rupture of a blood vessel. The result can be death or severe disability if treatment is not begun
immediately. There are some common risk factors for stroke that can be
measured and controlled.
During American Stroke Month, Premier Health, whose stroke care has
been nationally recognized, is offering free stroke risk screenings to residents of southwest Ohio.
In this screening you will receive a non-fasting finger-stick test for total
cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), and blood sugar, as well as a blood
pressure reading. In addition, a stroke nurse will listen to the blood vessels
in your neck and will counsel those found to be at risk. Appointments are

Darke County Parks To Host Frog Fever At Nature Center

Officials of the Darke County Park District invite children in
kindergarten through 2nd grade to join them on May 21 from 9:30
a.m. to noon to discover all things frogs during Park P.A.L.S!
This month everyone will meet at the nature center on St. Rt. 502
west of Greenville to see whats hopping in the wetlands and search
for all stages of the frog lifecycle in the park. Students will learn what
species live locally and what they can do to keep these critical creatures from disappearing. Remember to dress for getting wet.
Park P.A.L.S. is a series of monthly programs designed for students of this age group who are interested in nature. P.A.L.S. stands
for Practicing And Learning Stewardship, and its mission is to develop future earth stewards through meaningful educational opportunities and hands-on experiences in the natural world. A small fee is
charged for this program and preregistration is required. For any
