Name: Daniel deRoos

Please provide a short response to each following question or statement.
1. How did you decided to divide up the contents of your project, the composition verses the visual? Why so? How is
your division important to me for consideration in grading/evaluating your project?
-

For the compostion, I decided to focus more on the history of how the American Red Cross started and the
purpose it serves towards helping those in need of support. For the visual piece, my powerpoint shows many
pictures of natural disasters and what the American Red Cross has done to help during the clean up that
happened around the area of destruction like building houses, clearing debris, medical assistance to victim who
need it. I believe that the photos emphasize how greatly needed the American Red Cross is and how much we
support and need to continue supporting them to help others.

2. What do you want me to consider as I review your medium choice? If nothing else, tell me about your risk taking.
-

I feel that the risk I have taken with talking about the American Red Cross was trying to cover the entire
organization and what they do to help rather than focus on the one thing that I wanted to write about which was
donating blood. I felt that speaking about the organization as a whole, took me longer and not as much of a
passion for me. Although I agree with everything that the American Red Cross stands for, I believe that I focus
more on the donation of blood more than anything else because the blood is involved directly towards helping
save lives.

3. Influence me further as to what to focus most upon during grading: what do you want weighed most in your favor as I
grade your project? Why?
-

I would like the powerpoint of pictures and descriptions to be graded the most and focus on those because a
picture is worth a thousand words. By looking in depth at pictures and how people who volunteer, help others in
need and give them the care they need and deserve. To truly understand what is happening to people after
natural disasters, you must be there which is why the pictures help out in making you feel a part of the people
lives.

4. What would you like to change or to work on more, if you had the chance? Why so?
-

I would want to work on more of the donations of blood that are for people in need because that is one way that I
contribute. Being a full time student, I cant physically travel to places and help out victims of natural disasters or
donate money due to me being a college student, but I can donate my blood because I can always make more.
So far, I have donated 6 pints of blood in my life and want to donate at least 100 in my lifetime. I would work on
how the American Red Cross donates, transports, and who receives the blood that is donated.

5. Based upon what you have been assigned, verses what you have completed, what grade does your work justify?
Why?
-

I feel that my grade will be about a high B or Low A due to not being able to incorporate all of the information that I
would be willing to talk about. Also I believe that my concept of the format and what is required for a visual aid
may be different than what was expected of me.
