Application Basics
Purpose
The ATS quote application will assist ATS sales reps in
providing quotes to customers for both screenprinting and
signage jobs during their face-to-face interactions with them.
Audience
This application will be used strictly by ATS sales
representatives.
Accessibility
Because this application will be used strictly by ATS sales reps,
users will be prompted by a login page when opening in the
application so that only ATS sales representatives will have
access to the information contained within the application.
Concept
The ATS quote application will allow ATS sales reps from all
over the country to login via their personal iPhones and input
information pertaining to a potential customerss order in order
to provide them with a quote for their screenprinting and/or
signage project. ATS sales representatives will have all of the
information necessary to give customers a timely and accurate
quote for their screenprinting or signage job right at their
fingertips. The application will also serve as a tool for sending
and storing quote information.

About ATS
ATS Printing has been providing customized apparel and
promotional products to both local and national customers
for 25 years. ATS offers a full line of services, including screen
printing, embroidery, digital printing, promotional products and
fullfilment. All screen printing, embroidery, and digital printing
is performed within our facility, giving us greater control of the
production process, quality and customer service.

The ATS Logo


The ATS logo is designed using two elements: the wordmark
and the tagline:

The elements of the logo may not be altered or manipulated in


any other way beyond their original design. It is acceptable to
use the ATS logo with or without the tagline.
Acceptable Logo Color Use
Three-color PMS, four-color process (CMYK), one color (black),
one-color PMS 349 or Cool Grey 9 and reverse (white) are the
only approved color versions for the ATS logo. When four color
process is available, the logo should appear in CMYK.

Q: Do you want to be able to send the quotes that the

A: Yes we want to be able to send quotes to our customer
service department
Q: What are the biggest issue(s) that ATS runs into with clients?
A: Customers are often vague about what they desire from their
orders they dont really know what they want

Q: How specific must the application be in regards to garment


selection? i.e. will the application need to know what kind of
t-shirt a client wants?
A: It would be nice if the application were relatively specific
according to ATS top selling garments

A: Yes we want to be able to send quotes to our customer
service department. No, there are several different e-mails

Q: Is it important to know what color customers want their


garments to be? How exact must the application be in regards
to color?
A: Color is very important in regards to pricing darker colors
are more expensive than lighter colors

Q: What are the biggest issue(s) that ATS runs into with clients?
A: Customers often call and ask them to quote them for a
t-shirt, without understanding that they do entirely custom work
and need specific information about their order to provide them
with an accurate quote

A: No ATS sales reps function primarily from memory

that we have we will piece them together and make it work

A: Most are ages 40-60, and Im the only female sales rep

Main Features
The main feature of this application will be its ability to give
ATS sales reps an accurate quote for a screen printing and/or
signage job based on specific factors such as but not limited to
the size of the job, color use and styles and/or materials used.
Secondary Features
Secondary features of this application include its ability to
allow ATS sales reps to e-mail quotes to ATS customer service
department, as well as a feature that allows ATS sales reps to
archive past jobs and their quotes and related client information
for later reference.

User Thought Process


The main users of this application ATS sales reps will be
primarily considering the customer when using this application.
ATS sales reps will want to be able to easily move through the
applications processes while meeting with a customer and
gathering the necessary information about their order. Once
they have gathered and inputed said information, the sales rep
will have want an accurate quote displayed to them for them to
quickly and conveniently relay to the customer.
Navigation System
The ATS quote application utilizes a tree navigation system.
Each page of the application displays the users options in a
vertical tree, and each of the items contained within this tree
can be expanded on. This allows for quick and easy navigation
throughout the application.
Screen Grid
The screen grid remains relatively the same throughout the
application. Each screen contains an identifying icon at the top
of the screen, followed by a short instruction below to guide
users through the application. Beyond that, users will find either
an immediate list of navigation options or forms requiring entry
accompained by navigation option at the bottom of the screen.

Usability Study
Each application screen was hand sketched, and each of these
application sketches were utilized to perform a usability study.
A sketch of every page featured in the application was uploaded
to InVision, and set up so that users could navigate through
the application as if it were actually live and useable. Overall,
the usability test went well. I received positive feedback in
regards to my basic navigation set up. Of course, each user had
suggestions for how the prototype could be improved.
User Suggestions for Improvement
Users believed that the order confirmation page could be
more clear. It was suggested that each selection made by the
customer contain a heading on this page i.e. the section
containing the colors selected needs to be labeled color
selection as opposed to simply listing the colors.
Some suggested that the archive page allow users to edit or
re-order past and/or existing orders.
It was suggested that users be able to send orders to multiple
e-mail addresses in the event that the company ordering would
like a copy of the quote and/or the sales rep would want to send
the quote to multiple customer service reps.

Typography and Color System


Typography
The typeface Helvetica Neue was selected for use for this
application. The selection of Helvetica Neue allows for
alignment with the iPhone operating system and easy reading
for any iPhone user, as Helvetica Neue is a very conventional
typeface. Helvetica Neue will surely communicate a clean,
professional interface within the iPhone operating system.

The application utilizes the ATS brand colors. Pantone 349 C
and Cool Grey 9 C are paired with black and white. This creates
brand recognition for users, and unifies the application with
other branded products from ATS.

Application Icons

Main Icons
The main icons include home, get a quote, archive and cart.
The icons are constructed as outlines for simplicity, and each
maintains a consistent line weight for unity. Each of these icons
appears at the top of their respective screens to make it easy
for users to understand what theyre viewing.
Secondary Icons
The secondary icons are treated the same as the main icons in
terms of design. The secondary icons include screenprinting
and signage. These icons, like the main icons, appear on the
top of their respective screens. As users are going through the
quote process, these icons serve as an easy identifier so users
are able to quickly understand what category of quote theyre
generating.

Application Layout

Making selections

The application is well organized via referencing previously drawn


screen grids. The grids ensure consistency and unity throughout
the application. Two main layouts occur one that appears when
users are asked to make a selection and one one when users
are inputing information.

Inputing
information

Each screen contains both its identifying icon on the top of


the screen and a short instruction to guide users through the
processes. When inputing information, users will always be
prompted to continue to the next step by a button on the very
bottom of the screen.
