ALCATEL-LUCENT 5060

IP CALL SERVER

RELEASE 10.1

The Alcatel-Lucent 5060 IP Call Server (ICS) is a compact and low-cost IMS entry point solution
supporting both PSTN renovation for Class 5 services and enriched broadband services. It
supports legacy POTS and IP endpoints, leverages the same hardware and software assets for
wireline and wireless access and is perfectly suited for markets that need smaller scale and
simpler solutions.

The Alcatel-Lucent 5060 ICS targets

global markets (ETSI and ANSI) for fixed,
convergent and wireless service providers,
including a variety of access technologies:
POTS, xDSL, FTTx, WiFi, CDMA, WiMAX
and LTE. The 5060 ICS is suitable for
deployments of all sizes, with each chassis
capable of supporting up to 1.4 million
subscribers or 2.8 million subscribers per
cabinet in a typical configuration.
The 5060 ICS eliminates the need for
service providers to make a trade-off
between getting-started costs and
functionality because it can be deployed
using an NGN-like approach but delivers
the full benefits of IMS.

PICMG 3.1 common platform, allowing
higher performance and evolution

A security gateway, enabling use of the

Alcatel-Lucent Access Border Controller
on 5060 ICS as well as IMS

A single technology and architecture for

NGN and IMS allows seamless subscriber
migration from POTS to Voice over
Broadband (VoBB) and thereby meets
the needs of some customers for a
simple, effective entry into NGN

Support for:

BENEFITS

IPv6, solving the problem of exhausting

IP addresses and expanding the base of
users to more countries

Full NGN functions, combined in a

single product, reduce the number of
elements in the network, resulting in
CAPEX savings

Subscriber Locator Function (SLF),

ensuring the ability to find a customers
information regardless of the shelf on
which it is placed

Optimized CAPEX and OPEX by

providing a low-cost entry point for
NGN and IMS with guaranteed evolution
and scalability toward distributed IMS
when the market warrants

Full IMS features embedded in a

single chassis provide support for
new revenue-generating features
and decreased time-to-market for
new services

Ro interface for prepaid billing/online

credit-based charging
Two separate shelves in one cabinet,
providing 50 percent savings in cabinets
and floor space

Less costly initial investment in IP,

which suits a challenging economic
climate
