Overview

Describing about the basic steps to be followed for the CATS application setup on the client machines after
which user can run the application smoothly.

CATS APPLICATION SETUP ON CLIENT MACHINE

Steps :
1.

Verification of java version

Any older version of JDK and JRE below 7.0.3 need to be uninstalled.
To Check version of current installed java goto start>control panel>java>about

2. Internet Explorer browser should not be less than version 8. You can easily get IE version details from
IE>Help>About Internet Explorer.

3. Install JDK 7u3 version downloaded from Oracle site(www.oracle.com). It will also install JRE of the same
version during the installation.

Or
It will be made available at RDSO intranet site (10.100.2.12)

4. Before running the application, temporary internet files and temp directory should be emptied.
(C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp or go to run and enter %temp% and press enter)

5. Also need to make empty of the Java cache.
From the Control Panel, click on Java icon and on the first TAB click on the Delete Files button.
Also need to setup the progress bar for cache storage up to a maximum of 4 GB depending on the
RAM size.

POPUP Blocker should be turned off on the Internet explorer setting.

7. Acrobat Reader 10 or higher is required to be installed as a basic. (can be downloaded from
www.adobe.com)

After installation of JDK, Java folder under C:\Program Files should have Read/Write permissions to
run the CATS application.

9.

First time to run the application might experience a slow performance due first time download of
required files from the Linux server into the client machine.

10. Host entry needs to acknowledge the server name against the related IP in the network.
Under C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc, hosts is a file where it needs to write the following
entry.
10.100.5.20
Comp22.cats.com
comp22
Now verify it with the following command for the recognition :
Ping Comp22.cats.com from command prompt.

11. Fonts are also require to install in the Windows to get the reflection of the Hindi used in the CATS
Application.
a) Copy the fonts in the client systems C:\Windows\Fonts directory
Or,
Double click on the font and press the Install button in the font window.
b) Copy the fonts in the client systems C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\lib\fonts directory
Fonts are the following :
File Name
___________
DVSR3NTT.TTF
mfdev010.ttf

Font Name
______________
(DV-TTSurekhEN)
(Devlys 010)

Or it will be made available on Intranet site(10.100.2.12).

c) Copy the fontconfig.properties file in the client systems C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\lib directory

CATS APPLICATION EXECUTION

Steps :
1. In the Internet Explorer browser below URL is require to run the CATS application.
http://comp22.cats.com:8090/forms/frmservlet?config=cats

Or,
To avoid the repeated hit of the above URL, create a link option in Favourites as CATS and save it.
So whenever we require to run, just to select the CATS option from Favourites and click on it.
Or
Go to the Intranet and click on link CATS Personnel Information System on top left corner and the login
page of CATS application will open.

After this you will nevigate to CATS main login form , from where you can easily login into CATS application by
passing login credentials.

2. In the Internet Explorer browser below URL is require to run the PASS module of the CATS
application.
http://comp22.cats.com:8090/forms/frmservlet?config=pass
Or,
To avoid the repeated hit of the above URL, create a link option in Favourites as PASS and save it.
So whenever we require to run, just to select the PASS option from Favourites and click on it.
