Educational Philosophy
To create an environment where students not only feel comfortable but also confident enough to
express themselves creatively, as well as academically. I strive to inspire my students in the
classroom by encouraging them to work both independently and together to achieve their goals,
and also create an environment that fosters both constructive and open communication.

Encore Entertainers
Staff Member
Encore Entertainers San Pedro, CA
I started doing volunteer work that ultimately ended up as a paying job, on the weekends and during
productions at Encore Entertainers. They are a non-profit organization in the South Bay providing
theatrical education to students ages 4 through adult, through workshops, camps and full scale productions.
My responsibilities vary depending on what is needed at the time. Some of my common duties have been
the following:
Work with the children in learning their lines and blocking on stage.
Deal with parents and answer questions on the weekly schedules and handled complaints.
Help out where needed to ensure the theater production runs smoothly.

Applicable Coursework/Experiences
Playwriting I/II
Analyzed and implemented dramatic structure in order to write our very own plays.
Completed plays from these courses: Sleeptalking and The A Word.
Community-Based Theatre
Took a look at theatrical works created by communities of people and took theater to the
community to work on devising theatrical and artistic work with the local firehouse.
Directing
Broke scenes down into their French scene components, researched and designed blocking
for a scene, and ultimately worked with actors to block a scene from beginning to end with
elements of scenery and props.
Acting I/II/II
Introduced to basic acting techniques from Uta Hagen and other well respected acting
teachers and self-directed and blocked scenes with scene partners.
Styles of Acting I/II
An in depth look to some styles of theater including: Shakespeare, Moliere, Chekhov,
Coward, and Williams.
Musical Theatre
Broke down songs into their bare bones monologue components, performed, and critiqued
each others performances. This class was geared toward acting technique in musical
theater rather than vocal ability.
Technical Theatre I/II/III
In these classes we learned the basics of technical theater: building a flat, hanging a light,
stitching, building a prop from scratch, how to mix paint, paint textures, and how lighting
affects scenery and costumes.
Principles of Design
In this course we were asked to take a more critical and specific look at the design process,
designing mock costumes renderings, build white models, and come up with realized
sound and lighting designs for hypothetical productions.
