A. Course Description:
This course offers an introduction to the life of Jesus, with emphasis on religious
and historical context. Sourcescanonical and noncanonicalwill be critically
assessed, criteria for determining authenticity will be reviewed, and the history of
critical study of the life of Jesus will be surveyed.
B. Course Objectives:
1. To acquaint the student with the critical issues that attend life of Jesus research.
2. To develop an appreciation for an interpretation of the life of Jesus in historical,
social, and religious context.
3. To acquaint the student with the varieties of interpretation of the life of Jesus.
4. To enrich the student spiritually with the teaching and example of Jesus of
Nazareth.
