Pattern Recognition Algorithms

Goals:

The purpose of this package is to perform the necessary studies to develop the algorithms that w
be used for the recognition of forest species. These algortmos will be used in the treatment of th
data and images collected in the field and turn it into information about the composition of the
analyzed vegetation.
Methodology

A literature review of existing work in the area will be made. From this review, will be developed relevan
mathematical equations and tested the avaliable pattern recognition methods according to the sensors t
used for field devices. Collected data should be treated with post processing and converted into informa
This information will be validated with real information so that we can test the effectiveness of the
techniques applied. This means that tests are performed in areas where a forest inventory is carried out
conventional manner in order to compare the results.

Development of physical structure

Goals:

Develop the necessary hardware to integrate the sensors to be used, so that the aircraft can coll
data, store and transfer them. It will also be implemented the relevant navigation system and the
adjustments to the needs of the forest environment.
Methodology

The equipment will be used based on Arduino, to aggregate the sensing systems, geolocation, storage a
communication necessary for the collection and trannferncia the collected data. Since they are already
available several devices on the market, it is not necessary to develop a specific aircraft, but the analysi
which model will be made is best suited for the project. It should also be analyzed electronic structures t
