aesthetic report

he hormonal changes during pregnancy lead to a number

of symptoms, including acne vulgaris, hyperpigmentation
(melasma/chloasma), labial and vaginal laxity, labial hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, loose and sagging body skin (mainly
abdominal), local fat accumulation, cellulite formation and vascular
lesions. Each symptom has different bio-physiological characteristics
and affects different skin layers. Skin resurfacing techniques are based
on the removal of the outer layers of photo-damaged skin to create
a new surface by re-epithelialisation. Skin rejuvenation technologies
prompt the body to generate new cells via coagulation and necrosis of
the dermal layer.
Skin tightening and lifting especially on labial skin can be achieved
through the stimulation of fibroblast activity, collagen
denaturation and remodelling.

we used a fractional RF handpiece for four to six treatments, at fourto-six-week intervals. For hyperpigmentation treatments in the labial
area, we used an IPL-based handpiece with a 530 nm or 580 nm cutoff filter, depending on patient skin type and pigmentary depth and
colour. Treatment consisted of one to three sessions, with two-week
intervals between each.
In addition, we were able to provide complementary treatments
for post-pregnancy-related symptoms . For patients exhibiting local
fat accumulation, we used a bi-polar RF handpiece, with integrated
vacuum massage, every three to six weeks. For stretch marks, we used
combination treatments with bi-polar RF and fraction RF handpieces.
In the case of vascular lesions, the patients were treated with longpulsed Nd:YAG lasers. And, for females with facial melasma, 580 nm
cut-off filters with IPL technology were used for three to four
sessions, at four-week interval.

Treatment case studies

The patients showed improvement in their post-pregnancyrelated symptoms. For the labia majora treatments, the
average improvement score was moderate improvement
with 67% patient satisfaction. For the labia minora skin
rejuvenation treatments, the improvement was visible four
weeks after first treatment, and major improvements appeared
after three to four sessions. The complimentary treatments also
showed high satisfaction scores.
No serious adverse events were recorded during the study.
The treatment was well tolerated, with no recovery time while
using bi-polar RF handpieces. For fractional RF, the downtime
was limited to up to five days - and for IPL treatments, the
downtime was also up to five days.

Bottom line

We treated several patients using Vioras V30 multitechnology platform.

For labia majora skin laxity, we used a bi-polar RF
handpiece for a six-session treatment course, with
intervals of two to three weeks between sessions. For skin
rejuvenation treatments, especially for the labia minora,

a wide range of treatment solutions, especially where
several different symptoms are involved, as in post
pregnancy. To add value to labial skin tightening and
rejuvenation, additional treatments offer significant
