1974 Gamma Upsilon of Sigma Pi Housing Corp is formed.
2008 The first CEF Board is composed of James Jennings (), Paul Hetrick (),
Dr. Jay Morgan (), Andy Morris (), and Les Wright ().
2010 Keith Nance () is added to the CEF Board.
2011 James Jennings () and Dr. Jay Morgan () step down from the CEF Board.

Chapter Houses
1969 House at 1315 Main Street is rented by the chapter.
1973 Terry Davenport () donates money to finish a lounge in the basement of the
Main Street house.
1974 - Summer 1614 Olive Street House is purchased. (How did we get it?)
1979 A new roof was placed on the house as well as new showers, a new floor in
the kitchen, and new carpet in the charter room.
1985 New Wing is added to the house on Olive Street.
1988 Received funds from the Sigma Pi Foundation to renovate the house on Olive
Street.
1993 Moved into the new house on HWY 121 in the fall. The house was designed
by George Ridgway (A, Vincennes '68). House on Olive Street is sold to George Chu
who owned Hong Kong Restaurant.
2007 House is refinanced.
2009 James Jennings () donates money to fix the air conditioning unit at the
house.
2009 Housing Corp turns down an offer to sell the house for $140,000.
2010 The house is rented out to Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.
2011 The chapter house is sold for $150,000 to SMG Investments.

1981 Kentucky Thoroughbred Alumni Club is formed
1982 Deferred Rush for freshmen begins. Must have twelve hours to pledge. Fall
Pledge Class, Alpha Iota, is the largest on campus with five members.
1986 First KyTAC report appears in the Spring Emerald.
1986 House raided by police for unlawful distribution of spirits in a dry county.
One brother arrested.
1989 First Fall Fest
1989 Won the ESPN Spirit Award for televised basketball game between Murray
State and EKU.
1989 Held put-put golf fundraiser at the county fair for Multiple Sclerosis.

2010 Eleven alumni: Louie Junkerman (), James Jennings (), Les Wright (),
Paul McDonald (), Tex Shelhart (), Paul Hetrick (), Jay Morgan (), Scott
Harris (), Jason Huseman (), Chris Jones (), and Ralph Russell (),
participate in the SPEF tour of the Jack Daniels distillery.

2014 Shawn Reynolds () is elected President of the Murray State University

2013 - Clint Darden lifts 120/131. 251 Kg Total. 6 For 6. Qualified for Pan American
and World games.
2013 - The Mt Vernon, IL Police Department recognized Illinois State Trooper Ed
Shelton () and Illinois Secretary of State Police Investigator Dewayne Buretz for
their life saving actions
2014 - Jess Thompson () is recognized by the Franklin County (KY) Sheriffs
Department for risking his life to help a Deputy pull a woman out of a burning home.
2015 Andy Morris () receives the Excellence in Contributions to the Fraternity
Executives Association (FEA) Community Award.
2016 Gabe Klamer () wins the JPs Fat Pursuit 200K bicycle race in Idaho.
2016 Michael Glover () publishes his first novel, saint Sebastian: The Rose.
Sigma Pi Convocation and International Awards
1976 Slogan for the 33rd Convocation was submitted by our chapter, Unity,
Service, Achievement.
1982 Convocation: Membership Recruitment Award (62) and Membership
Recruitment Percentage Award (210%). Nominated for Most Improved Chapter.
1989 Named fifth most efficient chapter in the fraternity.
1990 Six undergraduates attend Convocation and received a Multiple Sclerosis
award for fundraising and the 900 Club award for efficiency.
1992 Received Chapter Efficiency Award during Convocation.
2003 Chapter is recognized for being in the Top 10 in Membership Increase
percentage.
2012 Chapter wins award for most registered attendees at Convocation: Les

2013 Chapter wins Efficiency Award and Achievement Award for reaching

2015 Chapter named Most Outstanding Chapter in the Southeast and second best
chapter in the fraternity.
- The Reston/Fitzpatrick Emerald Award of Merit is presented annually to the
chapter and alumni club making the most noteworthy contribution to the
magazine. It is named after New York Times journalist and Pulitzer Prize
winner James B. "Scotty" Reston (<I>, Illinois) and longtime Emerald
contributor Karen M. Fitzpatrick, late wife of E. Andrew Morris.

1968 MSU President Dr. Ralph Woods applied for a non-commercial educational
radio license from the Federal Communications Commission at the urging of Dr. Ray
Mofield (FA). This license would become WKMS in 1970.
1982 David Straub () works for WKMS hosting a show known as American Pie.
1995 David Weatherly () begins House Blends show on WKMS which will run
for twenty years.
