Initial Configuration
Overview
Definition
Initial configuration refers to the process during which necessary parameters of the
ZXWR RNC are set on the client Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the Network Element
Management System (EMS), to enable the ZXWR RNC to implement basic services.

For the initial configuration flow, see Figure 1-1.

Prerequisites
For all operations subsequent to this section, the following prerequisites are presumed to
have been met:

The EMS server and the Operation & Maintenance Module (OMM) server are
operating properly, and can communicate with the ZXWR RNC properly.
The EMS client is started and successfully connected to the EMS server.
The permissions for initial configurations have been acquired.

The following procedure describes how to create a subnetwork.

Steps
1. In the left pane of the Configuration Management tab, right-click the root node in the
NE tree, and then click Create Subnetwork. The SubNetwork sub-tab is displayed
in the right pane, see Figure 2-1.

2.3 Creating a Managed Element


The following procedure describes how to create a managed element.

Steps
1. In the upper left pane of the Configuration Management tab, right-click the
previously-created subnetwork in the NE tree, and then click Create Managed
Element. The Element sub-tab is displayed in the right pane, see Figure 2-2.

2. Set parameters as required.


3. Click . The created element is displayed under the subnetwork node in the NE
tree. A default configuration set (Modify Area) is available under the managed
element node. Users can click the Modify Area node to display the corresponding
configuration tree in the lower left pane, see Figure 2-3.

3.3 Adding Shelves


The following procedure describes how to add necessary shelves in a rack.

Note:
A rack only has one master shelf.

2. Double-click the Rack node. The Rack-List sub-tab is displayed in the right pane, see
Figure 3-3.

The following procedure describes how to add necessary boards in a shelf.

1. On the Rack Graph sub-tab, right-click the slot where a board is to be added, and
select Board from the shortcut menu. The Board dialog box is displayed, see Figure
3-6.

5.6 Creating an ASP


The following procedure describes how to create an Application Server Process (ASP).

Steps
1. In the lower left pane of the Configuration Management tab, expand Transport
Network > No.7 Signalling Configuration > Near End Signalling Point > Adjacent
Office Information in the configuration tree.
2. Double-click ASP Configuration under the Adjacent Office Information node. The
ASP Configuration-List sub-tab is displayed in the right pane.
3. Click

Synchronization
Data synchronization refers to synchronizing the database data of the Network
Management Server (NMS) to NEs.
Data synchronization involves all data synchronization and modified data synchronization.
When all data synchronization or modified data synchronization is being performed, the
system performs global check on the configured data.

1. In the upper-left pane of the Configuration Management tab, right-click an NE, and
select Synchronize All Data from the shortcut menu. The Global Check dialog box
is displayed. By default, the System information tab is displayed, see Figure 7-1.
