NSTP 1 and NSTP 2 is all about nation building. During the first NSTP, we were able to
understand everything about management on disaster. We attended trainings, and activities for us
to be familiarized how to rescue someone from being injured, which is important because it
could save a life. We were also formed to be better Thomasians because during the NSTP 1, we
studied about Thomasian Values and how should they be employed.
NSTP 2 is all about community service. In here, we are able to interact with other people
especially with children. We learned in NSTP 2 that small changes like teaching, and cooking for
kids are helpful in being a steward of Thomasian values.
Having my NSTP subject was at first burden, but as time passes by, I saw a family in
NSTP through other people. I saw how these annoyingactivities trained us to be a better citizen
that can offer help during the time of need. I was able to feel not to be neglected aside from the
fact that I missed the chances I had to attend fieldworks.

Having NSTP during my second year stay in the university was difficult because during
sophomore year, things are getting harder in terms of academic requirements, and exams. In the
Faculty of Arts and Letters, we have the schedule of Monday to Saturday classesmaking the
NSTP to be somewhat burdenbecause after writing a lot, studying for class recitations, and
reading for exams, you still have to comply with the NSTPs activities. You have to give time to
attend activities such as seminars, or even fieldworks.
I have begun seeing NSTP as pa-major because I literally study for my exam, and
module quizzes during the NSTP 1; and I found it even harder when after having everyday
classes, I still have to give my Sunday for the fieldwork. However, I am blessed that I have
professors who endlessly try their best to understand what we feel. They tried to minimize all the
requirements for us to be motivated, and to comply with the requirements. For instance, I was
not able to attend the first fieldwork, and I was given a chance to attend a make up class.
However, during my second chance,it happened that I was sick and I was not able to attend the
make up class. I thought it was my road to FA or Failure due to absences, but, my professor gave
me another chance to attend another fieldwork.
In attending the other fieldwork, I thought it would be boring, and sad, because I do not
know anyone on the bus except my NSTP professor, but, I met an engineering student who is a
common friend of my blockmate before; and in a blink of an eye, we became friends.
During the fieldwork, we had art workshop who really touched my heart because I am an
art enthusiast. I saw how happy the kids when they finished their coloring pads. It also touched

my heart when one little boy got very happy when we gave him pencils, papers, and a box of
crayon.
