Introduction

British American Tobacco Central America ( BATCA ) is the leading

tobacco company of Central America , is the result of the integration of
the six largest tobacco companies of each of the Central American
countries that were part of British American Tobacco.

In the nineties, the business environment underwent significant

changes in trends and the first effects of globalization and free trade
are felt; in those years, especially in developed countries the main
economic blocs were created, the elimination of trade barriers was
launched and became notorious for the presence of global brands.

The companies British American Tobacco in the region, aware of this,

they decided to join in order to ensure competitiveness, through the
formation of a management team to enable them to integrate
strategies, structures and operations in the area.

During the early years and even in the decade of the 30s and 40s
handicraft production was the first SCM manufactured machines that
were purchased between 80 and 100 thousand cigarettes per minute,
then were replaced by 1-90 that occurred between 1200 and 1500
cigarettes per minute , until now modern machines that can produce up
to 6,500 cigarettes per minute .

From 2000 BAT consolidated its operations in Central and became the
only factory of the Group (BATCCA) British American Tobacco in
Central America; the concentration of operations in Honduras involves
a series of activities that generate added value. Currently, TAHSA
retains its status as a company dedicated to manufacturing of
cigarettes that supplies the entire Central Market and some Caribbean
countries.

Obtain ISO 9001 certification ensuring effective operations, in 2002 the

company decided to obtain the ISO 14001 certification, which qualifies
respect for the environment. In 2003, the company implemented a new
integration process, this time from British American Tobacco British
American Tobacco Central America and Caribbean area to form a new
"cluster" (BATCCA).

Currently, Honduras is home to British American Tobacco Central

Branch headquartered in Honduras San Pedro Sula, which is
responsible for distributing the cigarettes across the country, too, is the
headquarters of the TAHSA factory, located in San Pedro Sula.

main located in the Valle de Sula, San Pedro Sula, north of the country;
the other to the north, around Danli and Tegucigalpa. Headquartered in
San Pedro Sula , which is responsible for distributing cigarettes
throughout the country, also located in San Pedro Sula , in South
Boulevard , kilometer 3 Zone Cocoa on the side of the large
metropolitan center , PUMA petrol station opposite , San Pedro Sula ,
Honduras CA.

Conclusions

In conclusion Honduran Tobacco is one of the most stable companies

with many years of having been created thus promoting continuous
improvement in the implementation of new working techniques and
thus being a socially responsible company.

Quality
It is the system that uses resources such as labor , technology, raw
material and financing to create a finished product to generate

profitability and customer satisfaction . The most important objective of

a production system is to achieve the maximum contribution at least
possible costs are key operational goals. Other areas of the
organization contribute their share, but the production system is the
pillar dedicated to the production of cigarettes. It is the only place
where ideas and materials are transformed into a product that is
delivered to the customer, trying to be the best quality standards. The
installed capacity of the finished product warehouse potentially
influence because the amount of cigarettes to be produced is
coordinated.

Discipline

Discipline within the company Tabacalera Hondurea must exist and

especially highlight respect for colleagues and their authorities.

Customer service

Logistics department within BATCA offices are responsible for

coordinating requests from different markets of Central America and
the Caribbean.
And TAHSA is responsible for the preparation of orders of different
markets.

adequate working space, with all programs and technological
equipment needed to develop each work assignment.

Experiences during the practice
