FROM YOUR PASTOR

Mike Northcutt - ebc@eastmont.org

Fifty years ago this month Eastmont sold our

downtown facilities to the State of Alabama. The RSA
Union stands at that intersection today. We relocated
to this location and next year we will celebrate our
fiftieth anniversary of God honoring ministry. PTL

Mom & Me Camp - July 15-16

All Girls Camp - July 18-22

RA Camp @ Worldsong

All Boys Camp - July 25-27

Lad & Dad Camp - July 28-30

Why this history? Because our move here in 1967 was

a mission, not simply a relocation. We came to make
a difference in peoples lives by telling them about a
merciful, loving God. Churches that have vision and
passion are successful churches. There is no future
for a church that is mired in maintenance rather than
mission.

Sunday Nights @ Eastmont

I am a Baby Boomer. There was a boom in babies

between 1946-64. My generation makes up 60% of
the Senior Pastors in Baptist churches. About 1500
boomers turn 60 every day. Our denomination leaders
are changing. I realize that I do not have infinite time
to make a difference in Eastmonts direction. Church
is much different today than 42 years ago when I
began ministry. It must continue to adapt or it will die.
But what never changes is our message and mission.
We must continue to make disciples by sharing the
gospel of Jesus Christ.

Prayer @ 8 AM, Worship Center. Children will begin in their

room assigned at registration and not in the Worship Center.
VBS Workers Breakfast: 7:30-8:30 AM in room 129.

We are not just a mission minded church. We actually

do missions with a passion. Missions are expected of
every member. Every Life Group. Every organization.
It is in our DNA. Jesus never told the world to go to
church. He did tell the church to go into the world. At
least five mission teams will go out over the next six
weeks. I like that.
A man put the following ad in the paper:
LOST DOG. Crippled front paw. Blind in one
eye. Ear chewed off. Tail missing. Answers to
the name, Lucky!
That dog really was lucky. Why? In spite of all the
things wrong with him, somebody loved him enough
to want him back. That is what God did for us. We are
more than lucky. We are blessed by grace. And thats
still our mission to share.
